ok well its confirmed.

IVe booked the date in, and so now we have a lovely big Hall with a Kitchen and toilet block, along with a big ass campign area and flat area to use for the weekend! sept 30, Oct 1, 2 and 3. Its in a beautiful location only 5 minutes from the closest Public Transport and Supermarket, or 25 minutes by car from the Adelaide GPO. We can arrange transport to and from the site from the Bus stop given a bit of notice.

We've also bought a big ass markee to use as a 2nd learning area if the workshops get too big to fit in the hall.

I was thinking we could also have a bit of a party on the saturday night if people were able to chip in for a PA...

so yeah - if you are interested in something or doing something else - say so!

and yes - there will be a large campfire, and a big fire spin.

And another one to add to the list, My flights are booked, and I am coming to Adelaide, and I am chucking a Big Kev about it -
I'm EXCITED!

Ok, so most of you don't know me, except the other perth peoples of course, and Ben and Lex. But I have just read all 26 pages of this humungous thread so I at least feel like I know y'all!
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Just a suggestion, it would be great if any of the locals had a portable gas BBQ to bring along, I don't think qantas will like me bringing mine as excess baggage somehow! And if there is a BBQ available, I will attempt a personal best, mega pancake cook-up on Sunday morning for as many people as I can possibly feed.
mmm. Pancakes.

oh... and on the topic of food (i'm really interested in this whole food thing, incase noone had noticed... i like eating...) can i presume small cooking fires are permitted? i mean... with the ammount of fire around anyways...

mmm... i'm just asking lots of silly questions in an attempt to be organised cuz i don't wanna have to drive all the way back across the city to get stuff...

*poke* just a little reminder for all you guys who're wanting hoppity badges:

Written by: Badges

I'm currently making the badges for the Common Ground meet in Adelaide, and require everybody's details to allow printing before then.

This means I'll need everyone to send me exactly what they want to have on their badge so that there are no mistakes in spelling, preferences, etc.

Please send me these details:

Real Name:
Hop Name:
Background colour preference:

Avatars are pretty much the right size and everything as they are, unless you'd like to send a better quality, though keep in mind they have to be relatively small. Also, those with either animated avatars or no avatar, let me know what you'd like. smile

here's a little preview

Getting everyone's details and preferences in advance ensures for better organisation, which makes everything run smoothly, which applies to everything really smile

Cheers, Lou

i'll have:

2x 4 person tents. you can fit 4 people in them, though not much else. recommend max of three + gear

1x 1 person swag - Mine.

1x car, with fold down back seats. Mightn't be the comfiest in the world, though i'll work on making it beddish in the next couple of weeks. Should be able to fit two people, probably shortish types.

I was very much hoping to keep the camping area free of campfires. There isnt much firewood around to be used anyhow... I was very much hoping that people would provide their own cooking facilities - eg camp stove / portable gas stove (about $20 with canister from Cheap as Chips etc) or food that doesnt require cooking (if you dont have access to camping gear). I really want to leave the site as close to how we found it as we can, and a whole bunch of charred fire circles will take a while to grow over.

We will have a communal camp fire up on the area where the fire twirling will take place.

um, due to inability to plan stuff correctly, i may have to modify either car or one tent's availability.

most likely the tent, but that means someone can probably borrow my swag, in which case i can provide shelter for up to:

3 (possibly 4) in a tent
2 in my car
1 in a swag
