Quick question for you guys. And yes, I did a few searches before posting, in case the post police come after me. smile

I am reliably informed that Royal Mail won't carry packages over 5ft in length. Does anyone know how much it costs to get a staff sent by courier? Or where i could look to get such information?

Cheers folks

Citilink is the cheapest courrier that's willing to deal with the general public I've found. Their prices are on the site. I use them for larger ebay items. If you try and book a job with them they'll normally tell you that if you don't have an account you need to drop it off at a depo, tell them that's nonsense (which it is, they just can't be arsed to enter your details), then pay the driver with a cheque.

Most courrier companies designed for business users will have a price list for people who make occassional shipments, one for ones that do one a week, 2 a week and so forth. The american companies like fedex, ups, dhl etc charge crazily extortionate amounts to the public that don't know any better.

there is a very simple solution to this

they won't carry packages more than 5ft in length; but I assume that means that they *will* carry a parcel which is 5ft long and 5ft wide

if so, then all you need do is to take a 5ft by 5ft by n-inches container and place the staff ALONG THE DIAGONAL: the diagonal will be (square root of 50)ft long, which is just over 7ft; well over what's required even for a long staff

simple eh?

Hmm. Not sure. Ideally I need a 1.5m contact stick with phat wicks. Rob says his sticks aren't designed for contact.
