My favourite haiku is by John Cooper-Clarke, and goes:

To express oneself
In seventeen syllables
Is very diffic

A wise man once said: "You have two ears and one mouth, therefore you should shut the censored up and listen" (though, to be fair, he might not've put it _quite_ like that..)

Normally, my rule is that I have to blast out a new haiku whenever I encounter a haiku thread on the internets but I'm gonna take the lazy man's route and use the tonka I blasted out on another forum 'cause it's actually topical here!

Kerosene goddess.
Flames kiss the darkest corners
of ebony night.

The retinal burn of an
instant consumed, trails behind

Kerosene Goddess.
Souls roar as flames kiss wind.
Auditory awe.

Jet engine peal reminding
of the peril in motion.

Kerosene Goddess.
Feet kiss ground in spiral dance
A dervish prayer

Elemental control in
fluidic motion, she whirls...
