do you know that tattoo removal is VERY painful . As a very tattooed person ( about 80% coverage ) i would suggest getting a cover up instead ,it'll be cheaper and much less painful . From the looks of it it would be really easy to tattoo over , and if nobody sees it , and your going to get another one there anyway , you may as well save yourself some money as well as the pain . good luck what ever you decide .

Perhaps a design that trails from your breast down to the middle of your chest? those type of tattoo's that trail from one part of your body to another look really good.

im sorry i cant make this sound any nicer but you just made the biggest point there.... thats exactly what you should say to them... if anything telling them makes it all so much easier for you, at least then you dont have to do all this sneaking around. what you said there is very mature, and you seem to have a good relationship with them.
i had five tats when my mum booked me her and my sis on a holiday just for the girls. i stressed so much before hand about what i was going to do because she didnt know of my tat's. i thought she was going to kill me! when i finnaly told her it was such a relief. it went along the lines of
"i want us all to enjoy this holiday because we've never been on one with just us, and i dont want to ruin it and cause arguments. ive been stressing so much and im sorry but i have something to tell you..."
she told me she was happy i told her, obviously upset that i had lied before but that i sorted it out with her which she was happy about.
i hope this helps.... if you decide not to then its totally up to you, try not to get too worried though becasue stress is never good.

as for the pain, i had a friend who had a tatt removed, she had a really horrible snake skeleton winding down her arm: very visible. anyway, she said it was the worst pain she's ever experienced, she called the tattoo itself a 'ticklish buzz' so she doesn't just have a low pain tolerance. but she said it was worth it, and it sounds like your very set on it.

My sister had a road accident on her bike about 5 years ago and hit the floor with her head which pushed gravel into her forhead and took off a lot of skin. when it healed she was left with a "cold tattoo" ( a black mark) on her forhead. She got it burned off with a lazer. She said it hurt a bit but nothing she couldn't stand. The smell of burning was the worst thing about it and it hangs about for days and days. She had to have several treatments too to get rid of it completely. She now has a mark there thats lighter than the rest of her skin because the burning gets rid of normal skin pigmentation.
I have a cold tattoo in the bridge of my nose where the lid of a taxi boot fell on it and cut the skin (not a very exciting story so I won't tell it
) But I've decided not to bother having it burned away because of the smell and the pain. I don't worry about it enought to bother.
You might find you need more than one treatment so I would advise coming clean with your parents. Honesty really is usually the best policy.

if your sure you want it removed go ahead with it , just make sure you go to atop tattooist to have it done .if its not done right it can leave a nasty red scar , which in your case would probably be in the shape of the outline . good luck ,let me know how it went . I really think you should tell your parents. I had my first tattoo before I was 18. I told my mum the next day, waited until she dropped me off at work then told her quickly so I had an excuse to leave straight away! At first she said 'you can't have one, your not 18', then she saw it, then she cried and there was much upset, lots of 'you made a BIG mistake, you'll regret it later in life, we're so very disappointed in you'...etc.
Anyway, I'm stubborn and she calmed down eventually. But like you, I thought the second one I got would cause her even more hurt. It's bigger than my first and in the middle of my back. She just rolled her eyes! She even smiled a bit. There was no huge outburst of tears and condemnation!
All parents like to feel that their kids can be themselves around them, that their kids can come and talk to them when they need help. Even if you've done the wrong thing and you're sorry, they'll respect you for it in the long run if you tell them things.
It will also save you all the stress of worrying about them finding out... I mean, what if they smell the burning on you, or see the scar after a treatment? I don't mean to be harsh, but that'd be just as bad as them finding the tattoo.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Scars that fade! Think there's some marks that get left but they fade away, but a few years ago it was pretty much impossible to get rid of a tattoo without some scarring remaining. I've never had any removed so I don't know first hand, but my friend is a tattooist and that's what he told me.

I've had friends who have undergone removal, and said that it was like having a bad sunburn. I personally would not want any of mine removed, but if that's what you want, I wish you the best.
I agree with looney bean, the chest is a tender spot, especially towards the armpits/sides... that had me crawling through the back of the chair!

Think you need to do some research on the net into Tattoo removal and techniques. As I said earlier, few years ago it was impossible to remove a tattoo without scar tissue being left. I don't know how much the technology has improved, but i'd be a bit dubious if I was told that laser treatments leave no scarring whatsoever.
It'll depend on the technology I guess, but lasers do pretty much work by applying intense light to skin cells. to break the colour pigment up so it can be absorbed. I'd imagine this is quite harsh on the skin cells though, and scarring may depend on the type of skin you have also. On one website I looked at it said you need between 8 and 20 treatments of the 'Versa-pulse Laser System', another website also quoted 9 - 20 treatments.
One 'factsheet' also said that 'all lasers carry a small risk of scarring' and larger risk of de-pigmentation of the skin. (lighter/darker patches appearing). Also, some ink colours like green and red are very difficult to remove with lasers as they don't absorb the light.
I'll PM you the factsheet I looked at, it was from a laser clinic so I don't think they're trying to scare people off doing it. Please weigh up all the side-effects and things that may go wrong first. Just know what you're letting yourself in for, because I know for sure now I'd rather keep all my tats forever than risk having funny discoloured patches of skin and stuff.

It hurt a bit, but not really.
The pain could be described as a pinch, minor electric shock, a small rubber band being flicked onto your skin..or an irritating sting!
It went 'zap'.......'zap'......'zap' like a staple gun! At the moment it feels a bit warm....like minor sunburn and it's a bit scabby...but from what I can see it's faded a fair bit.
I've got some cream and my next treatment is on the 30th of July.
It cost me $40.
