Hello!

Has anyone from the UK bought a large amount of wick from the hop shop?
I was wondering, cuz it will be heavy and about £100, if you have to pay tax or duty on goods bought.
I dont mean postage, but charges on top of what i would pay to hop.

Praps someone could help or tell me who i could ring to find out?

Thanks Clare smile

Don't know, but if you find out elsewhere please post and let me know as I'm going to be getting birthday presents sent to the UK from the HoP shop soon at the same sort of value you're talking about..

Good point!

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

theres already a fred for this.

I bought a pair of firey poi from HOP as it was by far the cheapest way.
Unfortunatly, ther price went up by a further £7.75 (3.75 customs, £4 Royal bloody Mail handing fee frown ) which peed me off no end.

But HOP is still the only place I will buy from.
For firey stuff that is.
You cant buy food on HOP.

I remember someone posted a way of getting around the tax before that works about 9/10 times, I suppose you'll find it if you search enough wink

i think that if "someone" ticks the box that says 'gift' on the customs label, then they cant tax you for it.

I've had a few orders from Hop and never been taxed..... I guess I just got lucky. If you have an address that doesn't look like a business address I guess that helps. Maybe smaller lighter parcels get past customs too.

Malcolm - is this a new thing? I've always ordered from HOP and never been charged. Yet my most recent purchase i'm being asked to pay £11 on top which is a quarter of the cost of what's inside. bit annoyed really frown

If we could get HoP goods classed as medical aids we in the UK wouldn't have to pay VAT on them at all......but then maybe that wouldn't work..... do we pay VAT on them......... ok shut up Skully.
