I'm sorry but I might not be able to come after all. I know I said I'd be there come hell or high water... well I meant my personal hell or high water.

Yesterday something got into my house through the cat flap and attacked my elderly cat. Its shredded her. I came home from work last night to find fur and blood all over my livingroom and one very very injured and scared 21 year old cat. I took her to the vets expecting not to be bringing her home alive but the vet thought it was worth giving her a chance to get better so he has pumped her full of pain killers and antibiotics. Later today I take her back to see if they can fix any of the damage. I'm really not sure whats going to happen. If she is still as frightened as she is now come Saturday I won't be coming. I can't leave her on her own.

Sorry again for messing people around.

I have just found out what it was because the ....(well I can't use the words I would like due to pg rating on board) There was a cat trying to get in through the flat again just now and its still covered in her blood. The moment it saw me it ran. It better bloody keep running too. To be honest with you I don't think she is going to make it this time. She is just too old and too badly injured to bounce back from it. I just can't understand why this cat has done this. Its not like she is a threat to it. All she does is sleep on a sofa, eat and sleep some more. She doesn't go outside because she is deaf and finds it frightening.

That's a real shame, Cats can be c**ts sometimes but it does seem strange if she's a house cat and the other isn't yours.

I hope your cat does mate it ok sweetie hug

eek I can imagine living there mate! I've got some friends who lives in Victoria Gardens and it's stupidly expensive for their aparently incredibly cheap basement flat.

Thanks for the well wished everyone.

She is a house cat but I also have another younger cat that has a catflap. Its supposed to only open with the magnet on the cats collar but it seems this other cat (which I have now found) either barged its way in at the same time as my cat or forced the door. Its a really ugly skinny cat. I'm guessing it got in to find food. Why it would bother attacking poor Em I have no idea. She sleeps all day on the sofa in the front room bothering no one.

ok kitty update for those that want to know.

I took her back to the Vet last night and he thinks she still has a chance so he gave her more pain killers and antibiotics. He told me we will just have to take it day to day and see how she gets on. This morning I was woken up at 6.30 am by her climbing onto the bed and meowing in my ear demanding some breakfast. I think its the only time I've ever been glad to be rudely awoken at 6.30 am by a cat.

We are not out of the woods yet. Her mouth is still all swollen and she is still very weak but I think there is a glimmer of hope as she is eating and drinking and showing signs of being interested in whats going on around her. Fingers crossed that she makes it through because I think it would be just such a terrible way to have to end after surviving 21 years. Thanks for all the messages of support.
hug

p.s. yes I know I'm a soppy cow when it comes to my cats.
