sounds good. heres a concept that might work...

have two main characters... a juggler and a woman. she comes out, has a bad start to a day. a bus runs through a puddle, soaking her, people barge past her. she's feeling down. then waiting at a bus stop, accross the street she see the lone juggler. she smiles. he smiles back. she give some money and watches a while. the juggler showboats a bit. this really cheers her up. then as her bus comes she feels better, and helps some one, then they help someone.

like the pond ripple effect it spreads. with the one act of a simple juggler a chain reaction occurs. until it gets back to the original woman. all the time every time something happens. the juggler is in the background. on a tv, or on a roof. so it appears that the juggler spreads the good being.

just an idea. tell me what you think.

Thanks for your ideas guys! smile

I think I just need a few ideas to drag the days out a bit more. Like one day (a day she hasn't given him money) you'll see her walking looking at him with a kind of pityful face. Then on the way back from work etc... then there might be shot of her in her house getting ready to go to bed. Thinking about him. (maybe some fancy dreamy thought tranisition or something) and then that's what will make her crack and finally give him money. But I'm not sure

why not, instead of a dream, have her trying to juggle, and realise how hard it is, and then give the money?

(sorry, im not into the whole dream thing...)

Gremz idea is good but its been done before in a television advert in the uk for a car. But the idea of the juggler putting a smile on her face is cool! Maybe have it as a daily ritual with seeing her everyday and then one day she isnt there! Swop it round sort of so you start to question where she is!

Set it out so you have juggler setting up then little later women walks past money into cap big smiles then fade out and start again! Mayb if possible have him adn her in colour and rest in black and white? Then for last day have him set up and then look around for women! Morale idea could be 'we all need a routine' or summit.....

Life is short!
So lets leave a mark,
for people to remember!

Okay there's been some difficulties with this film. I have no jugglers.

So after heaps of planning, storyboarding and stress, I'm scrapping that idea.

But alas, I have another idea. Tell me what you think

There will still be busker. A male in his 30s. He'll play the guitar with the case infront of him and there will be a little crowd watching him. People will walk past giving him money.

Everyday a older man (50s-60s) is there watching him. Maybe wearing a hat or something. Each day watching him. (In different clothes to help indicate new days).

Anyway sometime somewhere the older man will pull out a crumpled sepia photo of a little boy playing a guitar. (I don't know if the Father will do this as he's watching the son, holding the photo infront of the son then putting it back or if he'll take the photo of the son out as he's getting in his car about to drive home for the day and look at it and smile or something)

The guitar player will notice the father watching him everyday and kind of glance at him weirdly, intrigued kind of.

I don't the full story yet but there will be a scene will the Father in his bedroom at night probably with a old photo on his bedside table or a mother, father and a son maybe. The audience will assume the mother is dead or they're divorced or she left him for another man or something. He won't pick it up and look at it but it will be in the shot.

Maybe a scene with the son looking through old photo albums and finding a photo of his father. But I don't know about that one.

The father and son won't reunite in the film. The son might realise and just at the end of the film wave to him or smile at him or something or...

Mum suggested that the father could die with the photo in his arms and the son will never really know if it was his father or not and the next day he'll be there playing his guitar happily, oblivious to his fathers death. I don't mind the idea because it's kind of depressing

I could include flashbacks of the kid blowing out candles on a birthday cake or a 'home video' of the son playing a guitar when he's young or something but i'm not sure.

So what do you guys think of this idea?

Plus...Characters are much easier here. Mum and Dad know heaps of people those ages. Friends, uncles, cousins etc. And because the guitarist doesn't have to actually play or sing it's easy! He'll be able to mime as they will be a song played over it. Was thinking of the song 'Father and Son' by Cat Stevens or should I say Yusif Islam.

what about if the photo was on the guy's visory flap thingy in his car?

If the busker was near some business place, and the older guy was still of a working age, then you could protray that the older guy sees the busker on the way to work.

Have him get home one night, midway through, and pull out an old photo album. he grabs a photo of a child with a guitar, and looks at it a bit. Then, the next day, on the way to work, its with him in his car or something?

I dunno, that might be a bit too obvious, if you're going for a thinking provoking thing.

I've thought more about it and I've come up with this.

I don't want people to be thinking 'oh i know where this is going' kind of thing.

The main focus is going to be on the Father.

Each day we'll see him in his routine...say...getting up, eating bacon and eggs by the table reading the paper, catching the bus, going to the local coffee shop, watching the performer/son for a bit, then on the bus home. He'll do this for a few days.

One day his routine will change a bit. He'll still get up, eat his breakfast...then after breakfast he'll pack his suitcase, catch the bus down the street etc, have a coffee...shake the waiter's hand and wave goodbye. Watch the performer for the last time with his suitcase.

This time the performer will see him and glance up at the father, look at him like 'hold on, i know that face' kind of expression.

the father will then catch the bus, when he's on the bus he'll then take the photo out... miss his stop deliberately or something i don't know. But he'll go somewhere. People will decide if he's going to somewhere nicer, if he's moving, or if he's going off to die.

The next day the performer/son will look up and the usual crowd will be there but the father's spot where he always stood will be empty.

how long are you looking at making the film, it can be quite hard to relate to the characters in a shorter film, in this film i think you're looking for the person watching to get attatched, drawn in by this buskers father and family situation, it could be hard....i suggest you make it a resonably long short film maybe about 20 mins......

i guess it really depends on how you convey the story

well i've jabbered on for long enough......put the finished version on here so we can see how it whent?

Yeah I will definately put the finished product up but it won't be for months.

And the film has to go for 5-10mins.

Storyboarding is the worst.

Especially if you don't have the shots confirmed in your head yet. I'm getting so stressed and I haven't even starting filming yet.

The whole production plan is due in a week. That is, storyline, storyboard, screenplay, location, casting etc.

It's either going to be really good....or it's going to be really bad.

right on the storyboard side of things you dont have to have it confirmed in your head

most big directors dont these days untill they're shooting at the location, they put a lot of new shots in most of the time, that they wouldnt have thought of when at the drawing board

storyline looks like youve got it down resonably solid

locations go to the places take photos, and wack em in your sketchbook

casting, think about how good your friends would be for this, are they reliable not to cancel on the day of shooting, are they good enough at acting etc

i'm sure you've thought about all this yourself, but just incase there it is

and dont forget if you get something wrong it can add to your marks if you write about it in detail in your evaluation

Hey guys! Just thought I'd bump this thread up to say.....

3 months later....

I'M FINISHED!

It's all done. I'm so happy. I don't care if I don't get the best mark for it. I'm personally quite pleased with it and that's all that matters.

Maybe one day I'll find a way to upload it, host it somewhere so you guys can watch it!

Ugh...only a 2 weeks of yr 12 to go... crazy
