I dont know the name of this one but it can be found HERE in the staff lessons. Someone told me its called pinwheel?!?
Definitely more diffucult with Poi, so what one has to practice first:
a.) forwards and backwards onehanded weave with each hand
b.) onehanded passing (quite tricky to pass both Poi at the same time)

PS: For those who can already do it - there is an antispin variation too, but its even "a little bit more difficult"

I don't think it's pinwheel andy, I think pin wheel is the shortened buzzsaw but horizontal instead of vertical, of course I could be very wrong
So basically the same as the meteor move but with poi yeah? hmmm.....that pass above the head must be super tricky! And as for anti spin.....well lets say you've just filled my afternoon with something new to learn

cool, I can do the antispin version with staff, so I might have a go...
thanks for showing me that multiplex stuff, got very inspired last night....
on a side note, last night i got THE butterfly, which is anti-spin shoulder/hip reels. so in forwards bf the poi go bth the behind the bum then to the front, its ugly on the wrists, o yes.

dude I've soo been working on that.. not the bottom half but the top half because I've been trying to get a 5bt onehanded fountain.. and you can't do a 5bt onehanded weave without passing..
for once andy.. I'm completely there with you man..

It is . . . only with the added finger challenge of passing from one hand to the other behind the head and behind the back both ways with 2 seperate Poi at the same time

actually, ToP uses "pinwheel" to mean "windmill".
a buzzsaw is a buzzsaw, everybody knows that.

andy- do you do your passes at the same time? my hangup is that I'm still in the habit of passing the poi one at a time.. typically with a half circles worth of spin in between.. when I try to break that habit, I usually end up tossing one of the poi (the bottom held one, whihc seems odd).. the toss itseld isnt really that bad.. it just doesnt really help with this pattern.. LOL..
as far as a name.. qwertyuiop... sure it doesnt have that over obvious zang to it like most moves, but I doubt there are any other moves with the name..
besides.. I think people just name moves after what they look like, so they either a) they don't have to rememebr the name, they can just do the pattern to remember what it was called.. or b) just remember the name, since a lot of times we come up with stuff and can't remember what it was we did or necessarily how we did it.. Tossing in this pattern is possible as well but makes it more complicated imo - I tried to start some discussion [Old link] but I think it will take some time till it will become more common.

acutally mine still look like same time passes... its just the hands are next to each other for half a circle... it just makes it look like the pass takes taht long. you can't tell that they are passed individually.. which is why I asked...
and I've heard about your tosses into onehanded.. have you landed any onehanded tosses to onehanded? I'm no where near ready for any of those, but I have some of you other multplex things down.. I guess I should be talking about that in the other thread huh? :runs off:

In staff language on this site that move is definitely a pinwheel. nice one for doing it tho. are you using double finger loops?

Moderator and Staffplayer from Australia says pinwheel - that is a good argument to actually call it a pinwheel
To answer your questoin: I am using doublefingerloops, but for passing and throwing I havent found the perfect handle yet. (What works are KNOEPFE at the end of the string - this way you can combine them in one flick into a meteor and back - full tension is possible too)
What seems to work quite well when passing is to hold both between thumb, index and middle finger when passing. But again - 1000 possibilities out there - find out which one suits you best . . .

recommended size: around 2 centimeters, but best is to find your own preference.
Its like the size of your loops - everyone is spinning with different ones . . .

But,,,But,,,But. a pinwheel only has one fixed center of rotation. In this pattern the point of poi rotation moves in a circle.Unless, of course you want to call the center of rotation that imaginary point in the center of the pattern

There is also a club move called a pinwheel. It’s equlivant in poi would to be spin split-time one poi in front, belly button high The other behind, same height as front (to right or to left). Do a couple of beats, then swap front and back hands. Harder than it looks. Many moons ago, I actually called one of my first staff moves the pinwheel.
