It seems I more popular than usual at the moment.
No less than 4 people have added me to their contact list in the past day.

Now I know its nice to be wanted, but this is rediculous.
Who are, what do and who with??

Ridethe5iral@hotmail.com
dunderheadatmyhouse@hotmail.com
thegoldenchild34@hotmail.com
lactics4eva_5@hotmail.co.uk (.co.uk??? you what?) (who goes by the screenname of "wanker" smile )

any ideas?

I asked dunderhead where he got my email address from and he said some website... he couldnt remember which one.

I think its going to be from HOP.. might not be.. but maybe.

I also remember a thread about saying another nutcase has added them to their list, I looked, but I could NOT find! frown

I get texts all the time from people on SMS with names like "hornibabe123" and "spawnofsatan666" wanting to be friends with me. It would be nice if they were actual crazy people and not some kind of computer generated porn scam.

Do you have a livejournal account? One of my friends on it has over 100 people he doesn't know listing him as a friend all because he has the same name and looks vaguely similar as some guy from an electro-industrial band in Germany. He get all these Germans asking him about album release dates and can they get free tickets etc.

just don't let them add you without agreeing... I think there's an option on msn to block people from adding you unless you confirm you want them to add you.

I've had one person add me. He has a very dark and gruesome display name. I can't even say it here. I researched it and found it's lyrics from a song by Cannibal Corpse. 'Nuff said

He's hardly ever online and when he is I ask who it is but there's never a reply. I could delete him...but I'm going to try and find out who it is.

ok I just has a weird MSN moment.

Someone signed into MSN on my sisters account and asked me to add them. I thought at first it was my niece but it turns out not to be.

How this 'person' got in on my sisters account I'm not sure. My suggestion to people is don't add anyone that you don't know and don't download any files over MSN that you are not expecting.

i meant more for that fact that this is a forum, and likely to be spidered by a spammer sometime in the near future for email addresses. If you want your friends to get lots of spam, posting their email address is the way forth

F_R_D they got into her mail account. Mail accounts can hold very interesting infomation. For example.... Have you ever sent someone your home address via email? If your address is in their mail box when someone else gets in they have your full name and address. They can use this in a fraudulent way.... e.g. to open acounts in your name. Have you not heard of the crime of stealing someones identity? Why this person asked me to add them to their list I'm not sure. Maybe they were just going through my sisters contacts to find their next victim. I have no idea......

Oh and can you stop typing in txt speak on HoP. It makes it hard for some people to read. [Old link] Thanks biggrin

I've always been very careful with my identity and passwords online, but only just got round to buying a shredder for all bits of paper i throw away with my details on

In almost all cases my bank are completely incompetant, but they did stop the transaction and alert me when my VISA card was skimmed a few years ago used fraudulently in a service station in Taiwan (the call was an interesting way to be woken up in the morning). In my case it was an organised crime thing, which most likely was a result of my card being fed through a dodgy reader in a shop somewhere which copied my details off, but I don't rule out ID fraud at all, it's incredibly simple to achieve. The really silly thing is that it's taken me almost a month to open a new bank account, due to lack of evidence of my living at my current address. If I were to simply print out some fake utility bill statements I could open it no problem, but telling the truth wise it's hard to collect all the ID they require. To live in a society where it's easier to launder money if you're willing to lie than it is to open a bank account if you're only willing to tell the truth is just wrong

Sparkey hun, delete and block them. Turn your personal privicy settings on so that they have to request to add you. Don't add people you don't know. It will save you a lot of heart ache in the long run.

Another thing I'll say again is if someone (anyone even if you know them) tries to send you a file over MSN and you aren't expecting it ask them what it is first and don't accept it if you are suspicious. There are lots of viruses being spread that way. Sometimes the person that has sent them to you doesn't even know they have been sent, because their computer is infected and is sending it out by itself.

Have fun and take care! hug
