I'm planning to go, and I was thinking of training it, and getting a sleeper over saturday night 13/14 and 20/21, mainly because I still much prefer trains to flying (mainly because I detest airports - especially with the joke security measures frown). I suspect you'll find that many many people here will be going. Haven't started properly planning yet, though.

It's becoming a possibility. It looks sweet smile The cheapest flights I've found so far are easy jet london to Ljubljana, then it'll be a 3 hour train journey to Ptuj

Anyways, yeh I'm flying with ryan air to Graz then getting the train...even though Graz is in Austria it's a bit closer to Ptuj than Ljubljana. It cost about £90 but I booked in february so they've probs gone up now.
It's going to be AMAZING, I love this convention it's the best ever ever ever! biggrin biggrin biggrin

i am going here as a volunteer for six months!! I just got a map and phrase book that i ordered off amazon, and i'm soooo excited!!! it looks like it could be pretty easy for me to get to Ptuj too, but will have to find out when i get there!!

Does anyone know about another juggling festival in Maribor straight after? 20-22nd August apparently... someone i know sent me an email to say they were going, and i thought it might be the EJC, but apparently not, the dates are different... But maribor's not far from Ptuj people, so if it is another event, i think ye should all go! ubbidea

In Slovenia nearly all of the young people speak pretty good English. The older people don't tend to...but sometimes they speak German. But hey, it doesn't matter- that's what makes it a fun adventure! Oh, and at the convention itself there's always loads of English. The shows, programmes, etc. will be in English and normally one other language. We're very lucky knowing English already cos that seems to be the common language generally in lots of places around the world. Does make me feel a bit guilty though (hence why I'm learning Spanish even though I'm abolutely shite at it!).

tip: flights to Graz from ryanair are cheapest about a month- 2weeks before you travel. (I generally get flights for 20 quid each way)

there's nothing quite as fulfilling as a tasty airwrap

bumpity bump.

i just thought do you actually need to register to go to the EJC or can we to a certain extent turn up and buy tickets when we get there?? it mumbles something on website about registering, but was just secondly wondering....

Nadishome, from Graz you may well be able to get a train to Pragersko or Maribor, then to Ptuj from there. Alternatively, to Ljubljana, from where you can get a train anywhere... best to check schedules though, am generally finding they are a bit random...

www.slo-zeleznice.si or www.bahn.de

(but maybe you know this by now, slow reply...)

It's best to register beforehand- cheaper! You have to download the form and send it to your country's representative...so NOn I guess you'll have to use the slovenian form and send to the slovenian rep, but I dunno how you're gunna read the bloody thing- or do you speak slovenian now?

I reckon train from Graz to Maribor, then train/bus from Maribor to Ptuj...going to Lublijana would just take you to the wrong end of the country!

Ahhh I can't wait it's gunna be ace! ubbrollsmile biggrin
