first of all id like to give credit to dunc for showing me these beasts at falmouth

right now it is possible to do something tjhat looks very much like a five beat isolated weave, and i shall have a video up as soon as i get my camera to work

does anyone else do these

basically i think its actually cheating but you do a 3 beat isolated weave then sneak a single beat of an isolated buzzsaw in somewhere.......i think thats the best i can do for a description right now

i could just go like this weavesmiley but more beats and isolated.......so be greatful ubblol

Put both your arms straight out in front of you parallel with each other. Swing your poi in the same direction split time on the inside of your arms to create a single circle between your arms. Voila, buzzsaw.

Written by: DeepSoulSheep

An isolation is basically moving the centre of from the hand up the poi, toward the head. When people talk of them here they generally mean the centre of spin is the middle of the poi chain and the head and hand are orbitting edge of the circle. Chasing each other.

If you want to know about something the best thing to do is search using the search tab. There's loads of threads with hints, tips and variations.... smile

hope that helped.... loads of info if you search.... wink

as to the 5 bt isolated weave - i've been doing what sounds similar.... are you taking out the extra circle on your side or doing it infront of you like a normal buzz? (did that make sense?)
yummy isolations ubblove

the one I do is 5 beats on each side, defo one of my favourite moves- the hard bit is transfering the 5bt weave to the other side of the body whilst still keeping it isolated.. you have to get the extra beats under you arm pit like in the tuck turns on the hop lessons page. see if you can do a five beat using tuck turns rather than wrist twists and then work in some isolations.

Icon - what's the crack with the iso7? are you gonna spill the beans?

I'm using some stall after placing the 5th beat to transition to the other side:
for the reverse/backward, the stall is similar to the one behing your armpit
for the forward, .. yeah, the duck turn applies

Dont know that its something I can really explain. You gotta be able to do the 7 beat without elbows and without thru-wraps. Once you can successfully do that, its just a matter of applying the usual isolation techniques to it and lots of practice. I still cant do it very well, like I said, Im workin on it... But its definately there.

yummy isolations ubblove

mmmm isolations.
mmmm isolations within weaves.
mmmm isolations within weaves AND buzzsaws at the same time (or one following the other...)...

aaahhhhhh......

(sorry if this didnt help you understand how to do them or anything... but.. as that psycho lemming said, heaps to read. having a novice like me tell you what the jedi have said is rather silly.. (and naive, and pretencious... etc)

those that know, dont say. those that say, dont know.

right icon, what the funk....7 beat isolated weave.......explain here....right now

nate, what dunc was doing (and yourself by the sound of it) was a three beat weaves with beats of separation on each side.

when you isolate this the separation looks all nice and together.

but it ain't a 5/7/howevermanyyoulike beat weave.

the crossover in a 5bt weave is the same in an isolated 5bt - except its isolated tongue
this isn't as bad as it sounds - just think about your wrists not touching and you'll be halfway there.

the crossover for a 7bt isolated weave must be *really* f*cked up.

i can't get anywhere near a fully isolated 5bt - one poi at a time, fine; both together, disaster.

icon - would love to see some attempts of your 7bt isolated weave (or even better for me would be close up shots of you 7bt no wrap, no elbows cos i still don't get how they work).

That's the same as what I've played with before, agreed on the difficulty of transferring it across...

ditto = Cheaters 7 bt.

What I was doing in the cheaters 7 was indeed two three beats with a buzzsaw to seperate them up. If you watch the "first" three beat is with hands in the normal 3 bt weave placement and the second (after the buzzsaw interlude)is is the normal 5 bt hand placement. It's just more fluid to watch (and do) with the buzzsaw in the middle.

Take out the buzzsaw and do everything the same and it's a 5 bt iso weave.

I've been practising these lots in the last week, got them pretty schmoov now although I think it might be an imposibility to actually hit that 50% iso without being able to pass one wrist through another! I'm sure I'll be proved wrong tho! smile

As for getting a vid up before you Nate....not likely. Some git nicked me camera frown

I can do an isolated 5beat weave forwards and backwards. When they spin, their both on the outsides of my arms even when i turn. The reverse is still a bit slopy for me, but im working on it... I have videos but no place to host them. If anyone can help me out, let me know.

bumpy bumpy bump,

just reading some comments in other threads about this move and the possibility that some people maybe confusing isolated lockouts in a weave for a real isolated weave,

so where is everybody upto with these?

and icon, did you manage anything resembling a 7bt?
