Was talking to Sym about organising a mid week meet on Wednesday seeing as we have so much daylight now: we could meet somewhere for a daytime spin at 5:30/6pm say parker's piece or Jesus green, with the possibility of fire later..

I disallow it on the grounds that I cant go ubbcrying

Make another suggestion then!

Matt: things not work out with those lads then?

My second thought was just to try and organise a big old meet in Grantchester meadows, with BBQs and all that and firespinning in the evening. We could have a punting workshop in the afternoon, I could go and ask about deals for lots of people in punts from the various stations. That way people willing to punt can go, others can just hang around?

I like this thought. A workshop would be great seeing as though I might be there and the only thing I know about punting is a picture Jo sent me the other day! ubblol redface

Any news on a date yet?

biggrin

wave FRD, were aiming for the middle of august (so either 12-13th or 19th-20th if possible but I need to discuss it with Guy in more detail. Dont worry there will be a post on events and gatherings so keep an eye out. Places will be strictly limited cos theres only so many people you can fit on a punt, it will pretty much depend on how many we can get i think.

I wasnt suggesting we only get 1 punt, what i meant was were limited by the number of punts we can get and also whats practical in terms of how many people we can offer beds to etc smile I was thinking along the lines of about 20-30 people for the punting. Sorry I didnt explain very well before ubblol

spoke to the bloke at the granta about punt hire. He was friendly but not exactly helpful. He said he could only guarantee punts if we take them out in the morning, and could only offer a discount if we get a leisure card/cambridge student card for each punt. And we can't rent the big ones which take 10-12 people frown

there's some info available for Granta punts at
http://www.puntingincambridge.com/Self.htm
br>
and scud's at:
http://www.scudamores.com/punting/yourself/index.php
br>
I still could go and talk to scud's, I think the problem is we're looking at high tourist season. Anybody got any ideas?

What about Trinity punts? Do they do big ones? (oooo pardon!)

Or do we just punt up to Granchester for the evening and then get a few people to punt them back and walk up to Granchester meadows? That saves the over-night problems.

Posted:Talk to some Uni people: Tamara get them free as part of Darwin, if she joins the punting club (I don't think they do anything other than give free punts out). I think she gets 1 a week or something...I'll ask her about it.

If we could get 1 uni person for each punt we could do it for free... biggrin
