Whats there to do in terms of fire spinning? Anyone want to meet up sometime and find out?

ok, so I looked into a hall round the corner from parker's piece, takes 100 people seated. At their minimum price for NPOs, its:
£26 for the first 2 hours
+£10 for using it during oct-march (something to do with the school)
+£10 for getting the caretaker to come and unlock/lock the doors, deactivate/activate the alarm
+£10 for every hour after that
sooo...
that's at least £46 for 2 hours. If we had 20-25 people I'd consider it, but even then i think it would be pretty cramped space wise. I'm aiming to find somewhere for about £2-3 each in contributions or free (if possible) but renting space is a biyatch. Maybe I'll try YMCA...

Thats loads!

YMCA is a good idea. In Norwich we found the 'Norwith working mens club' who gave us a good space for £4/h or something. Is there something like that here?

if I feel like it I'll try and come out on sunday this weekend, thats 20th nov (sunday evening are usually crap anyway). I don't actually know where parkers piece is so that might be abit difficult but I'll manage. Directions from the train station would be nice if anyone is willing.

I spun last night at home and it was great.

Another thing is I can get paraffin quite easily I live near a garage that sells it for four quid. I think it's 4 litres.

ok If u walk to the end of station road (to the traffic lights) and turn right, walk along to the next set of traffic lights (there will be a church on the left) and turn right again, head up there and u will see parkers piece on your left, cant miss it. We normally spin opposite the fire station which u should be able to find quite easily once youve found parkers piece as it faces onto it.

I'll be out tomorrow about 5:30, dont forget your thermals guys and gals its gonna be cold biggrin

Sorry guys, I couldn't make it again!

If anyones interested me and my house mates are having a party next weekend. You're all welcome to come along - PM me for directions. We're down Cherry Hinton Road. Starting at about half past Saturday and ending when the last person goes home. Bring a friend if you like.

OK. Sitting here in an Internet Cafe in the beautiful city of Cambs. It is a lot colder here than Cornwall, I can tell you!

So, no regular internet access, I'm hoping this one off email will work to get everyone in the same place on Thursday (the one coming up). Sound like around lunchtime-ish would be good and spinning could then continue/pause until the working types bail out arodun 5pm. By which point we'll have to switch to glowy/fireyness.

So, I'll jump on a bus and hope that people will be about around, let's say 1pm. Thursday. Midsummer?

I'll give you a bell, Sym, nearer the time. To see if this has worked!
Looking forward to meeting you all! biggrin

I couldn't make it this weekend. Well, I could have come out but on saturday night I set myself on fire. It was pretty funny and not so dangerous. But it still shook me up. I can't promise anything but again I will try and get out for some poi action on the 27th! I can't even make a house party due to prior lame arrangements.

Cheers for directions motley.

ooooh don't give me that 'it was cold' excuse, that's what spinning is for, to keep you warm, especially when its fire. Being hungover is your best bet and even then.... hmpf.
And I went out for a spin on monday night too on midsummer common then walked home, so none of that 'the weather's too cold' stuff!
wink
