Whats there to do in terms of fire spinning? Anyone want to meet up sometime and find out?

I'd love to go to the synergy thing, but I'm too wimpish to go into Cambridge by myself in the Dark! Might get along to the circus thingy sometime though!

I don't spin poi, I get tangled up in them. Something tells me burns are out of the question!!

There's me not reading things properly! I'm even more too wimpish to go to London!!! I guessed that the camcircus would be off over Christmas, I'll prbably get down there sometime in January or February, whenever I am not required anywhere else, as seems to be the way on my one day off a week.

Hey guys!

I've just moved to Cambridge recently, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if fire spinner gatherings exist, and where and when? Oh, and also - where the hell do you buy paraffin here?! All I've seen are bookshops and posh little clothes boutiques smile

Thanks! x

Hey Jelena, welcome to Cambridge! On Sunday, Cambridge Community Circus runs from 5-8pm - tis the best place to meet all of us - except, maybe, for when we all go to the pub afterwards smile visit www.camcircus.org for directions, and I hope we see you there next week. All us poi and staff spinners are there, along with nearly every type of object-manipulation under the sun.

There are random fire-nights now and then - I want one soon actually. Anyone up for this?

Paraffin can be bought from Mackay's: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=mackays%20cambridge

I can't seem to find any paraffin in the local Homebase or Focus DIY stores. Useless, the lot of them smile

PS. what is that you're using in your picture Jelena? A sword?

random fire night - yes please, only not on a tuesday, wednesday or thursday!

there's also a DIY place near the train station:
heading away from the train station, first right, and it's on the right hand side
It's a focus or somesuch and you can get paraffin there too.

also, I'll be at camcircus from 5-8pm on sunday as I'm opening up

Yay more people!

Not on a sunday either! Mackays, Homebase (parasene there) and most garages all sell paraffin.

The Community Circus sounds fun, I'll definitely stop by and meet you guys soon!

Oh, and it's a fire whip in the picture. Very theatrical, but kinda terrifying to use, I have this love/hate relationship with it smile

Who can you expect me to be... Hmm...

Hello wave I'm Jelena (pronounced Ye-lei-na), and I've just moved here from Edinburgh to do a postgrad. I was involved with Beltane Festival for the last couple of years, which got me hooked to fire performing for life devil
I mainly spin poi weavesmiley, but I'm getting quite into hooping too.
Oh, and if I'm not spinning fire, I take pictures of it instead smile - https://www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=62787&collection_id=23516

Ooooh, gotta comment! Hope things are going well for you in Cambridge, Jelena hug will try and come visit at some point, or you can come here and we'll do some spooky poi on Dartmoor!

Matty, how long are you going to be in Bristol for? I'll get there in May, probably till August.
