London - Contact Juggling - 6 Week Course...25/04/05 – 30/5/05

Yo Y'all,

After the success of the last evening course, I’ve been getting a few requests to run my course on Ball Contact Juggling again.

So I am, Yippeeeee

Details:

WHO FOR: Its aimed at complete beginners to people who have been playing for 2 years. Small group size - 8 people.

WHAT WILL YOU GET OUT OF IT: Enough material to keep you busy for at least 2 years of practice. In the 6 evening course I reckon you will learn as much as you would get from 6 months to a year of practicing it on you own AND because of the good grounding in technique, over the next 6 months you will progress at about 2X the pace you would have done without. It will be really good, I promise.

WHAT WILL BE IN IT: Its going to be covering the fundamentals of 1 to 4 balls:

-Isolations

-technique more technique

-Lots of 1 ball

-Rolling Arm rolls and rolling

-Palm spinning

-Snakes - normal, 3D, digital and helical snakes

-Balancing and stalls and holds

-Pyramids manipulations

-More Isolations - enigmas and enigma variations

-How to be smooth

-Multi-person contact

-Musicality, flow, presenting and making it look good

-Even More different Isolations and more good technique.

-Every night there will be a 30 minute screening of video clips showing some if the most inspirational, Contact, manipulation, juggling, craziness and dance.

-Essentials on warming up and warming down and avoiding long term injury.

-And I've got a bit of time for requests from everyone on moves that they would like to cover. smile

WHERE: I want to try to keep the cost down for beginners course so I will run in mine and Doms front room in Brixton, South London. Its big and has a padded floor.

WHEN: 6 Monday nights: Starting Monday 25th April to Monday 30th May

Time: 7:15pm to 10:30pm

COST: For 6 nights: 45 quid

BALLS: You need to bring at least 1 ball, does not need to be acrylic. But it is better if you have 2-4 of your own acrylics for last 4 weeks. ( I've only got enough CJ balls for 5 people to practice 4. So there have to be a few places for folk who have their own balls. )

ME: I've been doing contact for 9 years and teaching poi, staff contact and ball contact it for at least 7, I do workshops every year at the British, European, London, Bristol conventions and last years British contact juggling convention.

I CJ usually with 1 to 11 acrylics or 1-4 stage balls and last time I went busking CJ I came back with a Girlfriend. That was a surprise.

Anything else: There will be biscuits AND Tea.

This is a really good opportunity to learn CJ

Please e-mail or PM me and reply below if you’re interested, even if you can’t make the dates above, first come/silliest message gets the places first. bounce

Mr Glass is a remarkable man.

I have had the honour of knowing him for about 2-3 years now, and he always makes me go eek at whatever he is doing.
Be it poi, stick, contact juggling or simply moving.

I went to the contact workshop he ran at the London Juggling Convention, and it was brilliant. I learnt the best way ever to learn palm Isolations. Instead of sitting there for hours and hours and hours spinning it round your hand...with him it only takes one.

But you will have to go on the course to find out what it is..... smile

Drew is a lovely friendly person who makes great tea...

I say: If you want to improve your contact juggling skills drasticly, and you are free when it is on... GO!

You will not regret it!

I'd love to attend this - however, the timing sucks for me. If you run one in the 6 week holidays I'd be interested - I'd even Megabus across and back for it.

I am also interested, but the timing sucks! Too much on at work. If there's another one later in the year i'd go, perhaps in winter when it's too miserable to go out but I need things to keep me occupied indoors. But then I'll be doing my dissertation, so will probably still be too busy. frown
