Hi.
My new mystec staff arrived today.
It's quite light (860g with kevlar; length 140cm) and seems really fantastic.

The paper is A4.
I bought it without the Kevlar. The guy from mystec.de made the drill holes for me and sent me his prefered screws.
I had one more picture with me on it holding the staff, but I just looked too mad, so maybe next time...

Hi.

The guy making them is from nothern Germany and imho very friendly (called him several times).
I wanted two kevlar parts on both sides, so he made the aluminium tubes on both sides longer for me. (Be aware that four 75cm kevlar rolls also make this staff quite heavy: 860g. That's ok with me, but some people like it lighter)
The staff is made from glass fibre with fire resistant rubbercoat around it and very flexible. E.g.: you can let it fall on your knee and it jumps back into your hand. (I had a very cool training yesterday)

Ok, I paid 90 Euro without kevlar, but just because I'm in a charitable society. I guess they might be more expensive normally...

Kevlar for 10 Euro. 4ft fromt the HOP shop
and the wood cost me less than 1 Euro....

I wanna do that heat shrink over foam padding thing too.
Though I'm not sure if it is heat shrink or just some other cool rubbery stuff and molds nicely around things.

Kevlar for 15.00 5 foot from where ever (118mm)
and no wood
costs me around twenty pounds per long burning pretty much unbendable staff, or thirty if I want double burners etc.
those mystics do look nice though

This stuff has a wall thickness of between 1.5 and 2.00mm depending on what grade I ask for, I've learnt staff and taught staff with these things, I'm now experimenting with semi contact and full contact choriogrpahed fire staff combat, and have never bent one yet.

Well, you might get this stuff cheaper but there aren't that many shops selling al tubes in the city center itself and a two way ticket to markets on the town border also costs at least 4 Euro. (Berlin is some kind of big )
For three meters (10feet) kevlar 40 Euro. (That's a normal price in Germany if you buy it in a shop. When buying online it's cheaper, but you also have to add the costs for shipping)
Whatever. I'm really happy with the staff and will post some pictures with it lit this weekend.

Yeahh Mystec seems very nice but the problem that i find in them is this gummy handle, if u get a few drops of lamp oil on it it will get quite slippery, i reckon, not that ive ever used them but still...

remember to treat your threads with respect. after four years, my first set aren't easy to screw in after twirling in places where there's sand and grit to collect on the teeth.
You could have split the 4" total in wicking on each end a bit more to create a wider flame.
