Hi all,
im in year 12 and for my DT major work im making 3 sectional fire staffs, but with a variety of ends to attach. they will be;
-standard 4" wicks
-double 2" wicks
-Foot long wicks
-Monkey fist knots with 1" rope

2 questions,
1) i have no idea how much kevlar i need for each one, if you've made staffs before can you give me a guesstamate?
2) am i going over the top on the 1" rope for the monkey fist knots?

would love some feed back.

I think you're going to have a pain trying to tie a propper monkeys fist with 1" rope and getting it dressed and tight, you might want to look at tying monkeys fists turks head style that would let you actually just tie it around the staff.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't single quotes feet and double quotes inches? so, are you planning on making monkey's fists out of one inch of rope, or are you planning on haveing one inch left over? the latter seems much more reasonable to me.

Cheers for that Lurch, i'll give that a go. my other plan was to use 1/2 inch rope and have a larger centerblock.

im aiming for outrageously huge fire balls on the ends... Muwahahahaaa...
