I need feedback on:

ease of navigation

style

clarity/usefulness of information

and if anyone has a mac or looks at it on a PDA, does it work?

Here's the link:

New media and museums

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to do this!

ok, to be helpful I'll give some negative comments:

I believe that a website should look good in both 800x600 and 1024x768 screenresolution: your site just goes into nothing at the 800x600 res because you have big white spaces next to the text. but also in the 1024 res the main titles on the pages are broken into 2 parts...
I'd say that the font size of the links was a little bit too big too... this way it distracts from the information given on the actual page.
maybe it would be good to fill the open space top left, either by stretching the title bar, extending the navigation bar or just adding another picture there?
I like the colourschemes in the navigation though... maybe you could extend that color into the actual links? eg by making the links not clickable text, but clickable pictures (with text in them)?

I hope my comments are useful?
good luck

It's not bad for what I guess is a first attempt. I would recement you learn about CSS for page layout though, as tables will put off anyone in the know IMHO. (lets not start that one again, please)

You should try to get a nav bar the same on all pages (for a small site like this anyway) as it's really hard to know what page your on and what pages there are.

Try resizing the images to the actual size you want them, it'll load much quicker that way.

There is a broken link on the https://www.ucl.ac.uk/museumstudies/websites05/gsmith/New%20Media.htm
page, the text of "an overview" isn't the same link as the rest of it.

The HTML code isn't valid:
https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&...w%2520Media.htm

If you want it to work well on a PDA you should use CSS to layout the page, I'll try to test it when I get some though.

You should add ALT attributes to the images. blank ones if the images is only for show (IE: alt="")

I hope this helps, are you being judged on the code or the content?

Thanks for the feedback people
found and fixed the broken link, I'm kind of constantly updating it. still trying to get the internal site search to work but can't quite get the hang of meta tags.
At the bottom of each page there are links to every page in the site, the idea of the larger links is as a guide to the site
have ALT tagged all the images.
Dracon388>Thanks for the positive feedback! I may have to quote that in my evaluation!
PoP> can't check resolution until tonight but I might have time to fix that tomorrow
Sym>I think we're being judged on code and content in part, but also pre and post evaluation. They do understand that this is the first website most of us will be making so aren't expectin all sorts of bells and whistles. I hear what you say about CSS but I'll have to leave it now, even if I did understand how to use it! redface
Thanks guys keep em coming!
