Lone tree on a hill. Do they really exist?

Flid and myself have been having a discussion over the last few months regarding these elusive natural phenomenen. I think that they do. Flid being the eternally cynical one, has stated that he's never seen one and that every image available is false, made up, or just painted.

So, you wonderful HoPpers, do you have any physical evidence of these trees? Photos, locations, descriptions?

Please, prove me right!

you missed the rules:

1) Must be the only thing on the hill, with grass around, so no bushes, hedges etc
2) Must be big and impressive (not a sapling)
3) Must be a hill, not a plateau on a hill
4) If it's on a ridge, it must be the only thing for a long way

I used to have a tree house in a lone tree on a hill where I lived. (I didn't live in the treehouse btw, the hill formed the main part of our back garden/field type jobbie) Is that too technically adcvanced to count? There were't any bushes or anything, although there were quite often sheep on the hill. I'm guessing it's loner status is quite diminished? Still, I'd rather be a lone tree with mobile friends than a tree with no friends at all!

what do you mean I don't change? I changed my trousers this morning!

Polythene: Excellent first attempt, but I can tell you're an amateur. Whats out of shot? I can't see the whole hill there. That's also not the original, I have no idea whether it's been doctored or not.

UVBubbles: Excellent. I remember such hills too, but I can't verify they were real or not. Photos please smile

Rule 5: If I can't see it in person, I want a photograph showing the whole hill, in good resolution which hasn't been altered. I'll look at arial photos if I have to!

Mint Sauce: Excellent, but can't see the rest. It looks like the top of a valley, which isn't really a hill. There's already a rule about ridges smile

There's gotta be a reason why a tree could survive on a hill on it's own. It's open to the elements, if its somewhere where a tree can grow other stuff will too. Either the area has changed since the tree took shape, or it's just weird. And I don't want a weird tree, I want a nice one, to sit under.

Because they're my rules. I've never done it on the internet before, it's only ever been with people in the flesh

I only said they don't exist once, I'm sure many do, but they're much more rare than media would have us beleive. I want to see some, and I want to visit them smile

ok ok Im not posting any moor picts unless I find a great one

I think the reason you don’t find then that often is that
1 no often nuts and seeds role uphill
2 as soon as it drops a nut *spingggggg* new tree
3 its dam hard to grow top a hill.

But if one dose get a foot hold no reason for it to grow to maturity

One Tree Hill

by U2
We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy, love.

A sun so bright it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone on the face of earth.

The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes.

You run like a river on to the sea
You run like a river runs to the sea.

And in the world, a heart of darkness, a fire-zone
Where poets speak their heart then bleed for it

Jara sang, his song a weapon in the hands of love.
You know his blood still cries from the ground.

It runs like a river runs to the sea.
It runs like a river to the sea.

I don't believe in painted roses or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful.

I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill.

We run like a river runs to the sea
We run like a river to the sea.

And when it's rainin', rainin' hard
That's when the rain will break a heart.

Rainin', rainin' in your heart
Rainin' in your heart.
Rainin', rain into your heart
Rainin', rainin', rainin'
Rain into your heart.
Rainin', ooh, rain in your heart, yeah.
Feel it.

Oh great ocean
Oh great sea
Run to the ocean
Run to the sea.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.
[They do not move.]

My bro may have the picture but it was really incredible.
It was on the top of the hill, the sun was setting, the entire field and hill leading up to it were snow covered, and the sun was setting right into the tree. The limbs spread out just enough to cover the edges of the sun so it looked like the tree was hugging the sun.

i went to a party in the lake district at my friend jemma's farm last year and there was a tree on top of a hill there.

i can't remember what the farm was called but i remember it well cos her dad took me on a flight in a microlite on the sunday morning cos it was my birthday and i saw the tree on top of the hill from the air.
granted, i had had lucy for breakfast that day but i swear all that was real ubbloco

as well as a lone tree on a hill, they also had many cows and even some electric fences which make your body and brain go *BOOF* when you touch them.
