Every year, as the weather starts to get colder, windier, wetter, etc, my enthusiasm for spinning declines as obviously, you cant spin outside, and my landlady doesnt approve of me spinning fire in the house...... strange lady... umm

At the moment.. im generally spinning about once a week at juggling society at Uni.
I usually take my juggling balls everywhere though.

But then when the summer comes round again, and it starts getting lighter, later, my enthusiasm goes back up again.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Yup. I really want to spin in the winter, it's just I know that the amount of hassle it is getting to somewhere I can spin isn't worth it.. because within 3 minutes my fingers are black and dropping off, my joints are stiff regardless of warmups, my ears feel like they're on fire, my nose is running...

I'm not even spinning once a week at the mo. But I'm really looking forward to the summer so I can spend whole days doing nothing but spinning smile

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

I'm not fussed about spinning fire, and I go to a club anything from once to three times a week, so I get to spin anytime.

But it's so much nicer in the summer time outside.

There's too many home fires burning and not enough trees

I have thesame probs. I hate winter. It sucks.

I used to spin staff and poi in doors, but the guys in my boarding house got pissed off evuntaulay when I started taking chunks out of their doors... my house master didn't appreciate it much either.

Bring on the summer!

i've spun more in the last 2 months than i have in the past 12 months.
but maybe that's just a reflection of how little i spun last year!

its at about the once a week mark at the moment.

to reinforce jonnnnnnny's hop classic topic starter though, i haven't juggled clubs since summer.

I spin everynight and at various times through the day.
Living in Canada it really does limit how often I am willing to spin with fire or spin outside in general, but it does happen now and then, maybe once a month I'll do a few nights of fire spinning, check my gallery for a picture of the last spin as I was just starting up my spin ^.^' Although spinning in winter makes me feel icky and makes me less inclined to do any harder moves, so I rarely go anything past 5bt weaves or 3bt btb weaves. I just spin to stay from getting rusty I guess.
I am always juggling, where ever I go, and especially in school during class, or before my martial arts I'm always messing around. I'm lucky to have the entire dojo to my self for at least an hour before I start teaching classes, and it's got extra high ceilings so I can have lots of fun.
Once summer starts up I intend to have a big spinning party every friday night outside biggrin

I used to look forward to winter: you didn't have to wait forever for it to get dark; the beamers lit up the condensation in your breath; the cold air anaestatises the beamer whacks pretty fast.

Up here in tropical Queensland we don't get any of that, just the light reflecting off thousands of mosquitos.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Yeah, I'm almost embarassed as to how little I've spun lately. I forced myself to spin last night just so I didn't feel guilty about posting on this site. wink

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

yeah, summer is SO much better for spinning.sunnysunnysunny Going out to the park for a juggle juggle drop drop drop spin and sharing the experience with lots of other layabouts who have nothing better to do. ah bliss.juggleweavesmiley

I mean, it's 19:45 here right now, dark, about -8°C, covered with snow and I'm a 40 min walk from my flat eek (hence the fact I am posting in social shat)... were it summertime however, it'd still be light and warm and I'd probly be chillin on the grass.... ah well.

But I'm still spinning more or less everyday though - too cold for fire, but my flat's big enough and I live all on my lonesome ( frown boooooooooo. )

Oh and Casz, spinning in snow looks very cool for those watching, but loses its novelty value when your fingers fall off. Oh the evenings I've spent sewing fingers back on... umm

mmm thats one thing I really like about Oz, during the winter we just turn the music up louder and keep going. We have an all weather fire spot and it never gets too cold for fwirlage. I dont know of many fire meets that keep going regularly 12 months of the year smile

YUP its cold alright,
last weeks fire meet nearly never happened when it did it was 11:30 and -3'C
Im looking forward to summer a lot, as we have no light place to spin teaching and learning is a lot harder,I just tend to repeat what I know instead of trying new stuff, and the attraction of going down the park with your minidisc and a few toys is severely diminished by freezing your face off, and cold fingers really dont help much either.

roll on summer the sooner the better

this one is shorter

wow, yeah, i live in oregon so it rains here about 9 months out of the year...so we've looked around and found a covered concrete area with painted lines for four square to practice in.. it's at an elementary school and we can get together every week without getting dumped on...i think you can find a place to spin just about anywhere if you're really determined...

OK there's only one solution for you fingerfrozen spinners! Come move to Brisbane where there's a mass of nice folks spinning all year round. In fact it gets harder to spin in summer cos who wants fire round yr face when it's already 35 degrees? And yr hands get sweaty and it;s easier to drop the staff.....

.....Can't juggle balls but I sure as hell can juggle details....
