One or two old-schoolers might have seen this abandoned project. I don't have time for it now but I'm a bit gutted about that because it worked really well and I had some nice ideas for it - so here it is:

Staffs with a central ball-raced axel (connected to velcro-strapped hand piece)

It means no throws (of course) but most non-contact moves work fine and there is infinite possibility for 'improbable' looking moves...

Imagine one of these and one normal staff for throws/contact... hmmm...

i'm not sure i get it jo...

how does the axel and velcro hand-strap combine and what different mechanics does this give the staff?

cheers,

i assume it would be omsethig like staff-axle-staff

meaning that

the center of teh staff(this being teh axel part) spin and rotate, rather than roll, meaning that it would allow for some moves to be acomplised much earier and some impossibel ones to be acived as there would possibel be less friction and more momentum?

right jo?

Your hand is fastened securely to a metal plate (like 2" of a wide steel ruler).

This plate is connected to the staff's centre with an axel (and ball-bearing races a-la-radio controled car weel bearings...)

Means a little push for a lot of spins in implausable planes (like palm-down palm spins)

In a nutshell - all basic staff moves possible plus a multitude of madness. biggrin

gotcha biggrin

cheers for the clarification - i've definitely never seen one of these.

it would be loads of fun and could create some really nice effects - could also be a serious danger to rogue sticky-out fingers though ubblol

its a bit like a cross between a stick and one of those 'spinner' things (weird toy with three spokes with a wick on the end of each and a central handle thing that you hold and rotate the spokes around really fast).

Yes Cole - that's what inspired them actually...

...seeing the fluffy napalm one using one of those spokey things. I thought they were cool but really limited and...

...well I think you can see my thought processes there from the grin biggrin

Ooooh, no, I was confused - I got hung on the "attached to hand" bit and thought you meant by a cord, allowing you to do odd throws to the ground that bounce back up and suchlike. TePooka have got one of them, but I haven't seen what you're describing before. It's a pretty crazy idea... Get to it. Get pictures. smile
