Is there any way to play a 1986 Amiga computer game on a modern computer?

My High School buddy and I have a serious feud to settle.

It's an old school football game (with NO graphics) but the gameplay was better than any Madden game I've ever played... it couldn't get more oldschool...

You'll want to get yourself a copy of Mame:

https://www.mame.net/

Then go to:

I've not tried it, so good luck!

there are loads of amiga emulators and roms.. an Emulator will emulate the system (as Sym says, MAME is the most widely-known one) and a ROM is basically the game data in a file as opposed to a cartridge.

If you search for "amiga emulator" and "amiga *game name* rom" you'll probably find loads smile

Grr... having trouble finding my particular game...

https://eager.back2roots.org/DATA/G/GRIDI.HTML

Found lots of "Gridiron Fight" which is totally a different game.

I didn't realize how many awards and accolades it had won at the time. No wonder me and my buddy were hooked. It was billed as the first "physics based football game"... (American football of course...) We spent hours looking at 22 dots fly around the screen.

Listing my game 'gridiron'... Do I need some fancy shmansy "Fire Transfer Protocol" program to download it?

(Thanks to those of you taking the time to guide me through this!)

Erm.. I think you just need to right-click it, then "save target as", then unzip it.

Then open your emulator, go to the "open" function, and point it at the file you unzipped.

Et Viola.

Fire Transfer Protocol or FTP is a way of...well transfering files.

You should just be able to click on a link and download it. What are you seeing? What browser and OS are you using?
