I would suggest purchasing the Home of Poi video.

It will show you the correct grips and how to spin properly.

See the Beginners section at the Shop. Look for the Art of Poi instruction video with Diane Paulger.

I would suggest looking in the Meet Others section
or look in [Old link]
My best advice could only be what I did and thats buy a set of poi, spin them lots, look on the Online Lessons or if your interested I bought a book called Poi Spinning by Michal Kahn ( this book ), it was an amazing help for me, the only other thing is meet others spinners, good luck! biggrin

The best way to learn the basic tricks is by having someone telling you how to do them, the next best thing are the free lessons on this board of on www.domorepoi.com, they also have quite alot of advanced moves.

And in Dutch:
De beste manier om de beginselen te leren is door iemand je het te laten voordoen, als dat niet kan kun je hier bij de 'free lessons' kijken, of op www.domorepoi.com, waar ook veel gevorderde dingen op staan.
