Posted:Hey all,

After asking about paraffin at B&Q, they offered me Parasene. I didn't think to ask about an MSDS and haven't managed to find one on the net.

The labelling mentions kerosene, which apparently leaves a fair bit of smell and residue on wicks, which is really not what I'm after.

Would anyone recommend Parasene? confused

Posted:remember/recall. Technically i shouldn't use abreviations like that anyway, its against the boards rules iirc tongue

Most people in the UK use paraffin (the uk common name for kerosene) of some description, and it's increasingly hard to get it without euromarker dye added. It's added so customs can track the origin (the dyes although look the same colour have slightly different chemical makeups). You'll be hard pushed to find the MSDS of them, and most stores (especially ones with high turn over of minimum wage staff) will just say 'uh' if you ask to see one.

I know that we use Kerosene being the safest (but not safe)
fuel for fire toys.

But.. does anyone know if there is being any fuel developed especially for fire toys and breathing?

Surelly the fire dancing community is big enough for some fuel to be made especially for us. i'm sure it would save a few people from injury.

Posted:Hi to everyone.
I work in the Labratory where the Euromarker is manufactured. I would like to insure that solvent y124 is not realy that toxic. It can be seperated out using hydrochloric acid which remains as a seperate layer to the solvent (ie. kero and parfin). It turns it turns purple and can be removed quite easily.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
