juggle weavesmiley Manchester Spinner’s Meet up and stuff weavesmiley juggle

Hi all If you are looking for people to spin poi with in the North west this is the place to be.

For any one new to this sight DON’T READ THE WHOLE THREAD it has been going a long time and contains lots of old information and chat about previous meet ups and organisation stuff just go to the last few posts to find out the most up-to-date information on current events.

First a bit of info the Manchester spinners lot is no professional spinning troop or organised events it is just a group of people who get together to enjoy themselves. The first meet up was organised way beck in September 04 https://delizium.fotopic.net/c291964.html

The crowd has changed a bit from back then but we have kept a few old timers we welcome all along to come and join us for a spin whether you be experienced or a complete beginner we are willing to teach and learn from you.

Their is no set time for the meet ups they are usually organised around when people can make it and how long they can stay.

I will try to update this first post as often as I can with the most up-to-date info on meet ups and club nights that allow spinning but if I'm being a bit lax just find the last few posts foe up-to-date info (like I said before weren’t you paying attention)

To date the standard meets have gone as meet up in Piccadilly gardens at 4pm (nice central point where every one can get to) Then move on down to the Gas Works/CastleField or Plat fields Park depending on the wether till everyone gets to cold/tired/burned then on to the pub

( anybody who doesn’t know where this is it can be arranged for someone to come meet you at the train station or wherever you are coming from .) smile

{ ubblove We are a nice bunch like that ubblove}

Accommodation for a night can usually be arranged but you need to sort this well in advance no just turning up expecting somewhere to sleep eek

(more to be added and all to be spell checked soon)

pm me any info you would like to add

before i met those lot i thought they'd be a bunch of dreadlocked hippies that smoked, set things on fire ,and drank a lot of tea but then when i met them....oh wait (PyroWill)

Hi,

Poi almost total newbie here looking for people to distract the viewing public from his lack of skill. Or people to help him a bit 8-)

Is a meet happening this 15th as suggested earlier? Is it worth me waiting until the "big" meet on the 29th? Do you still meet at Picadilly Gardens at 4pm? Are you easy to spot?

As far as I know, people are meeting this weekend (15th) for a meet. I'll be there, mainly to try put together a 6-piece project for my college photography course. And no doubt I'll do my best to be there for the bigger meet on the 29th. Maybe there'll be better opportunities then, we'll see.

I'd recommend coming to both really. At the very least it'll be easier to start knowing people when there's fewer there. And there should be a few people to ask for help on Sunday, so I'm sure someone'd say yes.

As far as I know, we all just turn up at the Gasworks when it suits us. 2pm is the planned time, but those that are fasionably late (most of us) start to appear around 3-4. Personally, I'll be in Manchester from around 12-ish I think, mainly hanging around, seeing what I can shoot before everyone appears later on.

Just look out for a group of studenty-types, with music playing, and brightly coloured objects on string spinning around. That'll most likely be us smile

OK, looks like a day of travelling to liverpool and then manchester and then back to warrington. Now, I did see directions to the gasworks somewhere I'm sure, but now can't find them... I remember the directions sounding like walk towards deansgate...?

And I'll probably aim for 4 O'Clockish I suppose.

There are several ways to get to the Gasworks. The easiest one to describe is start at Oxford Rd Station, turn left onto Withworth St West and head for the Ritz and the Hacienda.
Follow the road down and the Gasworks is under the arches at the end of the street.
If you are coming from Deansgate, you walk past the Locks opposite the station going towards the hacienda. YOu get to the City Road Inn pub and you can see the Gasworks accross the junction under the arches.

As Psykotic said everyone heads straight to the gasworks these days and meets anytime after 2pm, with the majority arriving for about 4pm.
I will not be at the meet tomorrow or on the 29th, owing to the fact I am still in Oz.
I will be at the meet on 27th May though biggrin (will not be doing my usual meet 'n' greet though)

Hooray, a grand total of... 4. Low turnout, but it was still fun.

The random surge of skaters, pizza that took an age to arrive, pool at Grand Central... considerably little spinning admittedly. But there were a couple of fire demos when the sun had gone down smile

Ah well, looking forward to the 29th now. Should be looking at a bigger turnout apparently, so I'll have the viewfinder stuck to my eye most of that day :P

And on the off chance the girl on the train to Sheffield finds this place - Hi smile hope you found your phone in the end. If you're still looking at stopping by for the next meet, keep checking here for details; no doubt someone will know whats going on.

Off for now, need some sleep before work. But I will upload more pics to my Flickr account tomorrow. Night all.

Roll on the 29th!

Love the idea for a BBQ, I'm guessing you got it from that swarm of skaters that appeared last time. Either way, I'll certainly look at getting sausages and marshmallows smile

<3 BBQ's

Again, I'll be in Manchester from pretty early on, but I hope I won't be turning up to the Gasworks and waiting an hour or so for someone to turn up :P

That was a reference to the fact that I spent most of the last Melbourne meet huggin 3 very beautiful young ladies in the form of Ezz, Roarfire & Rouge_Dragon ubbrollsmile

Needless to say, very little spinning was actually done that evening ubblol weavesmiley
