juggle weavesmiley Manchester Spinner’s Meet up and stuff weavesmiley juggle

Hi all If you are looking for people to spin poi with in the North west this is the place to be.

For any one new to this sight DON’T READ THE WHOLE THREAD it has been going a long time and contains lots of old information and chat about previous meet ups and organisation stuff just go to the last few posts to find out the most up-to-date information on current events.

First a bit of info the Manchester spinners lot is no professional spinning troop or organised events it is just a group of people who get together to enjoy themselves. The first meet up was organised way beck in September 04 https://delizium.fotopic.net/c291964.html

The crowd has changed a bit from back then but we have kept a few old timers we welcome all along to come and join us for a spin whether you be experienced or a complete beginner we are willing to teach and learn from you.

Their is no set time for the meet ups they are usually organised around when people can make it and how long they can stay.

I will try to update this first post as often as I can with the most up-to-date info on meet ups and club nights that allow spinning but if I'm being a bit lax just find the last few posts foe up-to-date info (like I said before weren’t you paying attention)

To date the standard meets have gone as meet up in Piccadilly gardens at 4pm (nice central point where every one can get to) Then move on down to the Gas Works/CastleField or Plat fields Park depending on the wether till everyone gets to cold/tired/burned then on to the pub

( anybody who doesn’t know where this is it can be arranged for someone to come meet you at the train station or wherever you are coming from .) smile

{ ubblove We are a nice bunch like that ubblove}

Accommodation for a night can usually be arranged but you need to sort this well in advance no just turning up expecting somewhere to sleep eek

(more to be added and all to be spell checked soon)

pm me any info you would like to add

before i met those lot i thought they'd be a bunch of dreadlocked hippies that smoked, set things on fire ,and drank a lot of tea but then when i met them....oh wait (PyroWill)

Am up for a meet, very very soon. Our neighbours complained as I acciedntly scorched her sunflowers with my staff a couple of weeks ago, so we're banned from practsing in the back garden frown

Plenty of me puling silly faces too! plus in each shot I'm about to clobber myself with the poi... looks so, erm, elegant... redface

The night shots are excellent CK... the wire wool shots are particularly nice.

And yes I'll agree with Steaky, newbies were made very welcome - Non you'll have to come down next time even if you're on your own. smile

hmm i can only make it to a meet if my parents are away, so hopefully i'll be able to make it to one in october smile

Be warned:

I don't how many of you shop at Tesco, but this may be useful to know.

I am posting this to you to warn you of something that happened to me, as I have become a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. This happened to me at Tesco in Kingston Park(Newcastle) and it could happen to you.

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 18 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping in the boot. They both start wiping your windscreen with a rag and Windolene, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy t-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Tesco. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start having sex with each other.

Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen last Tuesday, Wednesday, twice on Thursday, again on Saturday, and also yesterday and probably tonight.

So be warned!

I lost.

Affleck Palace sells poi. I wouldn't recommend the fire poi there but tail poi should be fine.

They have actually got an entire wall dedicated to fire toys. Like I said, I wouldn't get the fire props from them because the materials and build quality is simply shocking. Tails and flag are OK I guess, since you won't get a fireball to the face even if it falls apart. tongue

Avoid ALL poi from aflecs. Only things worth buying form there are the practise staffs which they haven't had in for a while.
But they are made by one of the Manchester spinners, Sam (who happens to be really busy right now, so is behind on some of his orders). They are really well made and perfectly balanced (as many will testify).
For poi your best option is to either buy online, or PM Tone as he is supposed to be getting a circus stall in the student market on a tuesday inside the Acadamy. Not sure when he is starting it though.

Ooh what's that?!

I don't know. I have never heard of Sheffield. And at no point have i ever been to Poi in the Park, nor did i ever organise any of the meets and am not currently aware that it is a massive birfday meet coming up on the 21st ish of October in endcliffe park.

But i reckon you could probably just look in the thread about it.... Maybe someone there will be able to tell you what Bittorrent is too

Well, I don't think I'll be coming to any more Manc meets frown

Wrote my car off on Tuesday in a head on collision with a 40-ton-lorry on the M6. Pretty amazing no one got hurt. Just skidded right round into the next lane, facong the wrong direction.

Bit of a bummer really. I live too far out to get bus or train in, the last one leaves at something like 7pm coming home.. so.. been nice meeting you all. wave

Thats a shame Triskaidekia. very lucky that know one was hurt in the crash, I have been in a head on myself and almsot died as a result, so know how bad they can be.

There seems to be a fair few in and around the preston area now, so maybe some of you should get your heads together and organise some meets up that way (Dave wink )

Hate to tell you this carrot, but the last sunday in september is the 24th, the 29th is going to be a friday.

Awww triks, and I wanted to see you at some point, you being from Harrogate where I was born. Yeah the trains are a pain arnt they, someone might be willing to put you up for the night after a manc meet, if theres one arranged for a saturday or something. People on here are pretty generouse for that.

Where is this poi shop your all talking about in the NW? Manchester, Darwen, blackburn, Preston, Bolton? Its a pretty big area wink. Im dying to know so I can go visit this shop!

would anyone want to meet up sometime sooner than the end of october? say... the weekend of the 15th or the 22nd?

We are the music makers, We are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams;
We are the movers and shakers of the world for ever, it seems.

We have th gasworks, thats fairly sheltered.
I'm sure we have other sheltered spaces as well, but can't think of any right now, I'm sure someone else will come up with one though.

Joe, try to read peoples post properly before you reply to them. Carrot Girl suggested the last weekend of October not September. And was asking if there are any shops in the northwest that sell poi as she is looking to buy some new ones. She was not talking about one that already exists.
Someone else mentioned Aflecs Palace and the Home Design Store, both on Church Street, Manchester. I mentioned about a circus stall in the Student Market in Manchester that Tone is supposed to be opening, but I would suggest speaking to him about that one wink
