A morbid thought hit me last night while my parents were discussing this very thing, has anybody ever wandered what they want played at their funeral, i know no one enjoys thinking about it but since i have already knocked wood on many occasions i feel i am safe to mention when i die (knocks on wood) i want 'Overcome' by Live to be played at my funeral, just wandering if anyone dares to think about it wat they would want played at their funeral and why, my reasoning is explained in the title of the song, it is just such a beautiful song.

I always wanted "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd, and "The End" by The Doors played at my funeral, but I was a 70's rock obsessed angsty teenager when I made those choices. Haven't given it much thought in the last decade, really but it would probably be something psytrancey, cos my funeral would be a bush party.

My choice would be to have Barber's Adagio for Strings played, and I also want Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach as well. As for rock songs, I also want "low man's lyric" by metallica too...

my mom played the theme song from barbarella and also the song from the beginning of "2001 a space oddessy" at my dad's memorial service. it was really cheesy - just the way dad would have wanted it with his kids rolling their eyes and all!

I would like the first part of Morrigan by Omnia to be played. It's a dutch band and the song is about Morrigan crone of war who fly's over the battlelfieds and removes the souls of the dead warriors. It's a really beautiful song.

I always think about what song I want, but it changes all the time.

At one stage it was My Immortal - Evanescence (Too typical funeral though)

Then it was 'Our Farewell - Within Temptation

then, it was 'One by one' - Enya

but then I thought it would be interesting to have non typical funeral songs like...Rawhide (The blues brothers version) or something, but then I wouldn't want to spoil the song for others. Rawhide is my favourite song of all time. Haha

This is probably terrible of me to even admit, but I'd want "with you in your dreams" by hanson.

on a lighter and less shameful note, me and my friends had this thing where if we died doing something stupid, we'd play "bittersweet symphony" by the Verve.

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Rougie: but that's what I'm doing here
Arnwyn: what letting me adjust myself in your room?..don't you dare quote that on HoP...

This is an interesting one... I'd probably go for Small Black Flowers that Grow In The Sky by the Manics.

I'm gonna go for the Ramones- I don't wanna grow up. I think it sums me up.

When I’m lying in my bed at nite
I don’t wanna grow up
Nothing ever seems to turn out right
I don’t wanna grow up

How do you move in a world of fog that’s
Always changing things
Makes wish that I could be a dog

When I see the price that you pay
I don’t wanna grow up
I don’t ever want to be that way
I don’t wanna grow up

Seems that folks turn into things
That they never want
The only thing to live for is today...

I’m gonna put a hole in my t.v. set
I don’t wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest
I don’t wanna grow up

I don’t wanna have to shout it out
I don’t want my hair to fall out
I don’t wanna be filled with doubt
I don’t wanna be a good boy scout
I don’t wanna have to learn to count
I don’t wanna have the biggest amount
I don’t wanna grow up

Well when I see my parents fight
I don’t wanna grow up
They all go out and drinkin’ all night
I don’t wanna grow up

I’d rather stay here in my room
Nothin’ out there but sad and gloom
I don’t wanna live in a big old tomb on grand street

When I see the 5 o’clock news
I don’t wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
I don’t wanna grow up.

Feed me Chocolate!!! Feed me NOW!

I've always said that I want Surprise You're Dead by Faith No More.

Although all the relatives that i thought would be shocked by it are all dead themselves now. So it's lost it's edge somewhat.

Although the way my brother is going with his constant getting middle-aged before his time (and accompanying miserable, unimaginative girlfriend) maybe there will be some eyes rolling and shocked faces after all...

my would be

These Living Arms by the Tea Party

So a crowd he gathered round us

I'm pining one last kiss

I'm struggling with this lifeline

In the shadow of this bliss

Patience my love Patience my love it'll all be alright

Ain't it funny how the fates work

I feel cheated by the turn

Still this love it hovers over us

And the lessons that we've learned

Patience my love Patience my love

With your arms around me

You're singing softly

And I fade from memory

And move on

We were lost inside a wasteland

Of fools groping for the gold

I wonder if they'll think of us

While they're still searching for their souls

Patience my love Patience my love

With your arms around me

You're singing softly

And I fade from memory

And move on

May nothing harm you

I'm still inside you

With my wings around you

So never put it out my love

The spirit is the flame that burns within

Hold on to me

And it'll all work out fine

Sleep now is descending like a dream

Still I'm shaking from the softness

Of your skin

Hold on to me love

And it'll all be alright

With your arms around me

You're singing softly

And I fade from memory

And move on

May nothing harm you

I'm still inside you

With my wings around you

With your arms around me

You're singing softly

And I fade from memory

And move on

Sweet lover go on Sweet lover go on

My love be strong

I was thinking about bringing this up the other night.

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, but this is me mates Dad idea.
South of Heaven by Slayer (mainly to piss the preist off ubblol It's a thrash Metal song and whould have to be played real loud)

Or as the song will be sad for some people 'cos of the memories.... a really happy song or over played song like 'I will Survive' or the song they always play at new year eve!!!! Is that evil or what biggrin

I used to be indecisive, but I'm not so sure now.....

Hmmmm, so many songs and only one to choose. Teenage years I would have to agree with Miss Flash and say, The Doors -The End. (and oh the memories that go with that song) A lifetime later and I would pick Portishead-Wandering Star. But Im sure close friends that know me well would make have their own selection for different reasons......
