Posted:Fire and glow and led chucks have been done, even to the point that they sell glow chucks at most martial arts supply outlets.

It's not hard to make fire chucks look good, it's hard to make doubles look good. If you just use one it looks totally sick. If you do doubles you are limited to normal poi moves and chucks will not look anywhere near as smooth. They only make stalls and wraps easier.

Nunchucks aren't bad at all. Fire three section staff is where all the pain is.

Posted:uh... what 3section are we talking ere??

are we talking 3section nunchaku or staff?!?
I am disturbingly pleased that HoPers have the inventiveness to invent 5 section staff or 3 section nunchaku inventions.
Nun's chucks are nice but they'd never let you see 'em
(oh damn that was bad )
nun chuck or dwarf toss, let no-one but you choose your path!

Posted:Three section staffs usually consist of three two and 1/2 foot sections connected with btween 1 1/2" and 3" of chain. My hard wood set only has three 5/8" links of chain between the swivels. So you really only need enough for the sections to move freely, and if you use chain swivels are very important. The cord connected ones are a little diffirent and there is a whole system for tying them together. The more chain you use the more it becomes meteors with a stick in the middle. Does that help?

Posted:my 3section chains are over the width of my fist. The important aspect of the chains are that the traditional versions have 2 extra rings hanging loose from the middle ring to better catch pointed weapons such as darts, spears, sword points, boeing aircraft. Additionally, the pivot point is usually at the end of the middle section when in use, but depending on what form you are learning, the chain centrifugally acts as a rigid connection, and in rare cases, is applied as a chain attack. Modifying chain length from that formula (or for that matter, section width, length and weight) would cause a quite drastic change in handling, when you consider the many configurations a 3section can be held and maneuvered. Other weapons are more predictable: generally, hard weapons are rigid, soft weapons have less moving sections.
I say less chain, cus if yer intermediate with a 3section, you'd want less variance in the pivot point of the chain connections. A longer chain would make it much likelier for the sections to fly out of your grip (a horrifying game of please-god-ima-too-young...! ) and hurt someone or be used against you in a parry counter (the moves that use your own equipment against you eek! )
I'm gonna talk about rainbows now cus I'll get too excited that people are talking 3section......
/runs into closet, only to realise that there's a 3section in it.
