i discovered something fascinating the other evening when i was at Rozi's house cooking dinner [well, she was doing the cooking, but anyway]...

does anyone else peel mushrooms? now in my 20 odd years of mushroom consumption, i have never before encountered this phenonena. by grabbing the lip inside the button bit, the outer surface peels off leaving decidedly clean and non-dirty mushrooms.

i can admit to being non-fussy about cleaning at times, but have i been committing some great sin against modern dining ettiquette by cooking & eating mushrooms uncircumcised [...so to speak]...?

Mushrooms? I love all things mushroom (cept the odd fungal infection etc.) I hate the idea of washing mushrooms, cos it makes them slimy. My mum washes mushrooms, and I always glower at her when i see her do it. I went through a germy phase, in which i used to peel mushrooms- very tedious work, and you waste a lot if your in a rush. i then went onto wiping them over with some paper towel, which gets rid of most of the schmutz. now i just eat them as they are dirt/mud/manure and all.
yummo! hooray for 'shrooms! clap

Well, thanks for dobbing me in wink Next time I discover an odd kitchen habit of yours I am heading straight to HoP. Besides, I just reckon it is that you don't have the required dexterity to do this quickly. wink

Oh, and its your turn to cook next time... biggrin ubbrollsmile hug

i think thats what makes them great, flame.
their ability to alter your perception of reality in such a way that you transcend what you previously understood about yourself, and your relation to everything else that exists, the way they open the doors of your perception, can be profoundly beneficial to you..

Don't think its a thing people do in certain countries. some people do it some don't personally i like all kinds of mushrooms.
Non psychedelic ones I eat them raw, sliced and stuffed.
Mushrooms are lovely when stuffed with chickpea paste or several cheeses.

Psychedelic ones if you don't like to eat the psychedelic ones just dry them first or eat them with chocolate.

I agree with shen shui about the possible benefits of shroomy-use, but people must keep in mind that you can't die from them, but if you're not mentally strong enough you can keep tripping for the rest of your live especially with the Fly agaric (red with white spots) I find dried hawayan and mexican shroomy's best...
Though dried ones are not legalized here anymore, some smartshops still sell them! Including the one in my city...
Lovely country I live in Hahahaha

yeah, ate half a box of columbian and half a box of thai mixed together all at once a couple of weeks ago. sat on the sofa for hours, saw the whole universe in all its infinitely large glory, realised that the way we measure time is completely un-natural and that the only thing that really exists is this exact moment. and actually managed to convince myself, through an argument about perception, that i dont actually exist at all. so nerr.

Well shen shui,

When you are actually planning on "tripping" to Holland let me know, i live like only 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam, in Haarlem where the dried ones are to be found, for Amsterdam really can't sell them anymore, lovely shroomy forest around here and know several beautiful other spots to go to in Amsterdam, for example an Artvillage which has excellent parties held in their pagan church (no cross but glass in led pentacle ubbrollsmile ) (globalparty, fullmoons, 5 day festival in july)

SO let me know ok smile but that won't be a problem hahaha
