i think your just complicating things by suggesting another diamond... so you mean its seen from the side view and its created by virtue of the patterns the staff make during the transition from left to right.

like the way a figure of eight is also seen from the side...

if thats it, then yes, it makes sense... there must me an easier way to describe it though.

if its not it... dont worry about it. i've got the basic theory and am really looking forward to playing around with variations. i'll find it.

and thanks dude. i love it...

ado, yes.

your hands in a 3 beat weave make 3 circles (so long as the poi are slightly extended/isolated)

thusly: a 3 beat antispin weave with single axis end point isolations makes 3 diamonds
but it could make 3 circles too instead of diamonds shrug

there is no such thing as THE antispin weave. Just weaves, some of which antispin.

glad thats cleared up then rolleyes

at EJC i learned a bunch of horizontal contact eek

but only with hula hoop wink

So following on from a video uploaded by Brettstar, i learnt a new move last night!

A new matrix where you have the staff doing the "andre" thing on your back and your front........

Bret did this acoss his front followed by the harder matrix set across his back.

(go see MCPs website for a tutorial if your a newbie, then this might even make some sense!)

Kind of making another diamond shape it is (simian you got alot to answer for i cant stop thinking about shapes!) anyway the diamond comes from a beat on your side, then back, then side then front. - 4 points............

Im turning into a nerd arnt i rolleyes

ubblol

Although - i must say i will not be spinning any more staff fo a while as ive really pulled my back muscles! - (not from this trick mind, fom painting a bloody high wall) frown

"a new matrix where"

should be:

"an old matrix where"

and you don't need your arms like his, all trying to force it across like it's a jesus, you can just do it purely with leaning back lots.

Not that I can talk, I've learned the stupidest anti-spin single staff move.

Where be this matrix vid? I can find it not..

Mind you, I've never learned to do the matrix consistantly.

I did learn some bad ass fishtail methods though... Now i can get forward ones using the exact same technique i learned for reverse. With control!!!

You're is probably stupider.

Actually, I think I've just thought of a more stupid version, so I will have to try that first.

i doubt it - you probably did it and wrote it in a book like six years ago anyway.

the move i did does have the word super in the name though, so it can't be all bad.

and it will never be done with poi biggrin

well, i reckon it'll be no suprise to you that simian showed me superspin at the ejc...

superspin:
do a full arm circle and at the same time, do half a rotation of the stick

i just took this, learnt to turn it and then waggled my arm in the other direction smile

so just like slow anti-spin with fast arms. Fair enough. Pants move maybe, but good find. Anti-Super-Spin or Super-Anti-Spin? It's fairly boggling either way.

Mine is fairly dull compared to that. Just doing a normal anti-spin one beat, but that kinda twists up your arm as it goes behind you. It's much nicer to make it go behind you at the other end of the horizontal line / diamond corner / so one horizontal line it makes is in front of you, the other behind. It feels kinda like your making a circle around yourself / lassoing. It's fun, but fairly obvious.

the other thing was to do the anti-spin one beat entirely behind you. (with a sneaky single end coming in front of you.)

With doubles these aren't so gay.

errrr, wrong thread I think.

Anyway, I learned to cartwheel using just the staff, the martial arts way. After a whole year of an injured knee.
