Hey there folks!

I'm on the quest to poi regularly now that I'm in a place that it's possible. I gave up last winter being that indoor poi (with my weakness of sending them sailing occasionally) is fair dangerous to property and outside there was several feet of snow.

Now I've moved to Florida and playing outdoors is the thing to do! So I've been scouting ebay, amazon, and of course here and other related sites for how-to dvds (any recommendations?) and watching my pocket book for the opportunity to randomly splurge (GUILT GUILT).

I watched Clan Tynkers preform with Fire Poi at Pennsic and was hooked, sought out poi and did my best to learn from websites, primarily this one.

Then, at the height of my christmas splurging, I get some very sad news! Sam Tynker of the Tynker clan was paralyzed! The article read:

"...The day before Thanksgiving, Sam became completely paralyzed below the waist. He was rushed to ICU, and with a series of tests it was discovered that he had an arterial-vascular fistula, a rare [congenital] condition...which creates an abnormal blood flow in his spinal cord. The effect of this malformation of the arteries usually becomes apparent after the second decade of one’s life. "

This re-enforced my decision to practice again and led to a thought that I've been playing with. I get laid off in Feburary, maybe I could visit home and take a trip to London, where I've got some friends to crash with, work a little, swing poi with that community, and then head over to Eastern Europe to Teach English (my fav place is Czech Rep and I have a TEFL certificate). Then head back to the states to go back Uni in Sept.

Also enjoy Rapier combat and Belly dance
