I was just sitting here on my computer, browsing the forums when suddenly...*crash!*

I looked over and the Christmas tree was lying on its side! eek

Fortunately, only a few glass baubles were smashed, and not any of our memorial angels for those we know who have passed on. Thanks goodness for that!!

But the funniest thing was that I went to tell my parents who were sitting in another room drinking tea and reading, they said that they heard it and dismissed it as "oh, it must just be something Beth's doing" ubblol

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Rougie: but that's what I'm doing here

It's the ghost of christmas past possessing your tree!

Quickly now, call the Vatican and ask for Alexander Anderson. He will send a squad of peerless exorcists to do battle in your living room. Arboreal crimes will not go unpunished! biggrin

I moved out of home in 1996, and sad to say it, I've never had a christmas tree of my own. frown

I was 75% committed to having one this year, but I think perhaps next year will be the right time. Maybe when my finances are settled enough to actually put some gifts under the tree. Can't have some poor dying fir tree standing in my loungeroom wearning nothing but a few tacky flashy lights and a couple of $2 shop decorations, with nothing underneath it.

Yes, next year I will do it properly. With all the trimmings.

Instead of a tree Flash, Go out and collect some interestingly shaped twigs, pray them silver, put a ball of clay/playDoh in the bottom of a plant pot and poke the twigs into it. You can then hang little trinkets on them. You can use anything you like, including those really rather odd sparkley earings your Aunty Gladys gave you one christmas but have never worn. After you have put all the little bits and bobs on the twigs throw some lametta over the whole lot and hey presto you have a chrismas Twig to be proud of!

No trees die in the making of this decoration!

I like to decrate my houseplants....and my tree is super small and of the fake, already decorated variety...it has pinecones on it and red bows. Cool idea with the twigs, skulduggery.

I'm actually having a party at my place on xmas eve - I suppose I really should put some festive cheer around the place.... shouldn't I?

I've been thinking about it - due to the glorious summer temperatures I'm currently enjoying in my hemisphere, the party is actually a Garden Party of sorts (me and my hippy mates pretending to be sophisticated for a night). This is my garden: https://www.homeofpoi.com/gallery/showpho...=500&page=1

Maybe I can get some tinsel and wrap it around some of the trees. I already have fairy lights on the tree in the RHS of the pic. Any other suggestions?

Oooh, nice garden! biggrin

Rope lights wrapped round tree trunks look pretty.
Or tinsel would work as a cheaper option.

I say go crazy and have fun-
lights, tinsel, glittery stuff, streamers, inflatable light-up santa and rudolf on the roof...
Ok, maybe not... but go have fun with it. tongue

I swear, this Jewish boy will never understand the Christian compulsion to go out, hack down a tree, haul it into a home (covering the inside of said home with pine needles) and then cover it with sparkley things...only to remove it from said home two weeks later!

Except that I've participated in this process many times and it's SO much fun! biggrin

sort of related.

I used to live with 4 cats. We'd set up a tree, real tree, and shoo them away when we saw them in there.

Well one night I was on the computer, and I heard a loud "CRASH!", followed by the sounds of four sets of paws scrambling for cover. eek I casually got up, and saw the tree was downed. One of the cats, the smallest one, loved to climb in there and I guess she got a little higher than was safe.

Funny, they never climbed a tree again.... shrug angel

I'm weird. Just work through that and we'll all be fine.
