In the stuff article it starts off saying it's a pyrotechnic stunt gone awry then it says that the barman torched the dj booth.

It might be better to wait til the forensics reports are finished before any finger pointing goes on.

And the first rule of fire performance is:

THOU SHALT NOT DO FIRE STUNTS AROUND OPEN CONTAINERS OF FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES.

Including...hell...ESPECIALLY alcohol!

ooh, this is scarey. In the context of fire performance, Without even pointing out all the obvious mistakes both the people handling the fire and the venue both obviously made, this gives me the heebeejeebees as a fire performer, and does not give fire in clubs a good rep to the average member of the public. I read all the reports I could find yesterday, this stuff makes me nervous!

I have to wonder if the club had an adquate sprinkler system (well, obviously it didn't or the fire wouldn't have gotten very far). In the U.S. it's part of building code that you have to have sprinklers.

Not that sprinklers will stop a fire that starts off as a strong blaze, such as when someone's fire breath ingnites a wall or ceiling...

But, according to the very sketchy and untrustworthy article, there were no sprinklers and the club didn't even have an operating liscense!!!!!

Go figure...

And I heard on the tv that a lion and tiger died in the blaze (they were being made to perform there on the night it happened). And this shits me something chronic... somehow more than the ppl who thought it would be cool to use petrol as a fuel (heard that on tv too) and do fire stunts in an obviously ignorant way.

On tv they said there were no fire extinguishers in the club at all..and no signed exits.

And of course no one would think to get the lion and the tiger out of there... and of course mass panic would have to ensue. *sighs*
