We all know once you start twirling, it's hard to stop :P
I grabed a pair of my friend's mittens the other day and broke into 3 beat weave (tried for 5 but they were to short and had no weight) then into a butterfly.
I realized I do this a fair bit when ever I get items in my hands. I've done it with articles of clothing, shopping bags full of food and all sorts of strange items :P
I wanted to know how many other people twirl what ever they can get their hands on.
I know in the Martial Arts world, everything becomes staff or a sword wink
I think in the twirling world, everything becoms twirlable.

Funny story. In seaside after prom everyone gets totally shnokered([censored]-faced) long story short me and the friends got wasted the night before, but the cop came and took away all of our stuff... it was ok though, i was gone by the time he got there, but thats another story ^_^. ANYWAY The next night at about 2am i decide it would be a great idea to go skinny dipping. So i did and I walked back to the hotel and the only door open is to a friend's room, seeing as i was locked out of mine i decided to go say hi. I did, stayed five minutes, security came to their place too and took all of their alcohol. The point of the story is i had my socks in my back pocket and as im standing there watching the cops take everything out i start doing a mini corkscrew with my socks. The cops didn't apreciate this and started yelling to put the weapons down just as i was going into a simple 3-beat weave and getting kinda into it. It was a bit scary then, but makes for a good story now.

Well, there's my story.

Don't mind me, just passing through.

My first practise staff was a re-tractable paintbrush extention....So I had the choice of a really long or short staff....It's how I found my perfect length when I made my own...

this is going to sound really weird...

my old roomate bought a very big double headed dildo and cut it in half and made nunchucks out of it.

we called them the 'dilchucks'

they hurt very bad when you got hit by them.

Tried staffing with walking stick just after was introduced to firestaffing. Didn't work very well, not straight and uneven weighting due to antler on one end!
Have proper staff now, yay! clap bounce2 biggrin

I was working at an environmental center for awhile, and couldn't help twirling whatever tool I touched - rake, scythe (look out!), broom, cutters, hammer. Didn't try any poi moves by swinging the angle grinder by the cord though. So call me gutless. Hehe.

I have a habit of spontaneously twirling random objects in my room (including an african spear) and hitting the fan.

Hmm... tent poles, pens, cardboard rolls, branches; anything goes...

i figured if i increase my weight on my poi i might get better arm mucles, so i had these 32 ounce alchol bottles (rubbing alchol in plastic bottles), i took them and shoved them in my socks and tried spinning away... They were fine until just after the apex of the spin when the centripital force wore out.
I'll catch myself swinging without thinking sometimes... After the guys at my juggling club showed me the basics of moving your hand for club swinging it hasn'et been limited to shopping bags and chords, but rather soda bottles and such too...

that which yeilds is not always weak.

My halberd and axe often get spun. Any flat object like trays and books etc get spun like plates on my finger. I plate spin with an epee and stick throwing the plate from one to the other - that's fun smile

Think jugglers have got obsessive compulsive disorder - in a good way i.e. non-Howard Hughes way.

i love this game! erm glow sticks on the end of tent guy ropes was what I learnt to spin on, bean bags on climbing ropes works really well, until it hit the ground and split, did anyone know there are REAL beans in those?! and about a million of them!!Ive always wanted to try a 9section steel whip, its a shaolin kung fu weapon. My martial arts school gave me a lanyard(SP?)to put my keys on, that gets spun a lot when im there. clothes, phone chargers, any electrical plug at all actually, belt with a big buckle, I teach kids how to use nunchucks so am bit handy with them, police dont like them too much in public tho...

Whatever it is, If it makes you happy and you're not hurting anybody then you are making the world a better place.

The world always looks nicer when you're spinning.
