We all know once you start twirling, it's hard to stop :P
I grabed a pair of my friend's mittens the other day and broke into 3 beat weave (tried for 5 but they were to short and had no weight) then into a butterfly.
I realized I do this a fair bit when ever I get items in my hands. I've done it with articles of clothing, shopping bags full of food and all sorts of strange items :P
I wanted to know how many other people twirl what ever they can get their hands on.
I know in the Martial Arts world, everything becomes staff or a sword wink
I think in the twirling world, everything becoms twirlable.

At work I'm a kitchen assistant. So whenever I'm bored, I grab a couple of teatowels and spin them, with a flick of the wrist they turn into pretty cool flags. and I also end up juggling with apples or teacups

The only reason i'm scared of little kid's is because I know in ten year's time they'll be mugging me.....

Hmm... at work, I've spun some of the metal arms that clothes are used to be hung on..

At home or out and about; clothes hangers, sticks, two arrows as doubles, bow, broom, fork, butter knife, USB stick on a chain, keys, hair ribbon, braids, bag, staff while still in bag ubblol not many know what it is, clothing items, socks, rope (even got bored one day and made some meteors outta the rope tongue), scissors (spinning it around my finger, flicking it, then handing it to someone handle first)... Lots of things to spin. biggrin

Not anything strange but slightly odd spinning.

I was at the nottingham meet (before the nottingham poi convention) and tried to spin poi with lauz by standing behind her putting my arms by her side with her hidden behind her back and tried to spin. I thought I coul manage a butterfly but just ended up hitting her in the face every beat lol, luckily they were sock poi smile

I regularly spin meat and cheese bags down the isles of grocery stores. It even started a supermarket spin jam one day, although my groceries got mangled smile

My first experience of poi was quite amusing (and painful)

i was on a camp and a guy was trying to explain what poi were. eventually he comes up with the idea of putting rocks in rubber gloves and tieing them up with sizel. biggrin

great, except i had no experience of poi. i had bruises on my legs, arms, face, all over. and to top it all off, the sizel had taken all the skin off my fingers! ouch!

i didnt even manage to get the three beat weave. ubbcrying

now i spin anything, mainly my keys or shopping when my socks arent to hand.

i added weights to the ends of my boxing wraps! they make awesome poi since when urr doing the normal weave to a triple weave or any combination, u can lengthen or shorten them! the resistance is pretty big though but still they look wierd from a distance due to lack of visual weight. all you have to do is get some small lead weights and just bind them into the wraps, wrap the cords around your wrist to start off with then lengthen as you please. biggrin

I give hope to others but I keep none for myself.

They were mechnical bats that fly in a circle that hung on the ceiling (it was a 'Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas' theme night). They were really heavy and they hurt when they hit...

Other than that - helium balloons....

friend of mine told me a story of when he went to one of the earlier Cherry parties back in teh day, where they picked up two large pillows shaped like fish for the van, and he picked them up by the tail, felt the weight, and started to spin them like his fans. next think u knew it was the main event party and there he was up on a podium spining these two glowing red fish pillows
