Posted:oh and rouge, i normally find flat bottomed squash (cordial) bottles to be good, they are about the same height as a bar bottle, and fill it with water and away you go smile

Posted:MY personal advice would be get a hard flair bottle, because as i've learnt from flairing the thing you need most is weight, the light plastic (even when filled with water) is a much different feel and cannot be manipulated in the same way, maybe im wrong and it worked for you mech but personally i wouldn't.

If you can't afford/access a Flaior bottle I'd advise going for glass and as Majeestik said wrap it in gaffa tape and cover the top. Again in my opinion the best glass bottle to use if you want to flair with is a Malibu bottle, it is made out of thickened glass and also has a plastic sheet around it which means it can take a hell of a lot of drops even on hard flooring without breaking, whereas a regular rum/vodka bottle would be lucky to survive 2 drops.

If you can i'd say practise on grass however this can be very crap if its been raining because flairing is almost impossible if your hands are wet.

Best advice, get a Flair bottle and shaker smile

Posted:yayness, am currently in sydney and am happy to inform all that last week i did a flair-tending course with Loy Catada, who was the world champ in 2000/2001. it was so much fun and he had practice bottles to sell (i bought three) so now i can become an awesome cocktail-flairtender and conquer the known world! smile

haha, thats awesome, last year i saw a guy practicing in hyde park, he looked a little to serious to approach though. some flairers can be a bit pedantic i think

Posted:I would not say pedantic but i have meet a large portion of bar flairers that are quite snobby? if that makes sense.

Not that i haven't met some really cool and nice ones though
