Anti-spinning- when you use two seperate centers of spin so that from one center you move forward and the other moves backwards.. simply put spin your poi forward at the hand and move your arm in a reverse circle

Trinity- rather then making plane changes 180 by spinning flat to the sides, angle your poi a little so that you spin pointed in frontand angle to the sides... this way when you turn you only turn 120 degrees, so that it takes 3 turns rather than 2 to get back to where you started.. and leaves you spinning the opposite direction relative to what you started..

Atoms- intersecting moves a 90 degrees.. for instance weaveing with on poi - and one poi |

Helix- Talk to drew.. he might show you in person.. good luck.. (hint: think dna?)

Matrix- This has a number of connotations.. depends really on where you heard it..

Box- another weave type done at 90 intersections.. the guys across the pond can explain this one better.. I never got into it..

Carries- see spherculism.. LOL

In-betweens- no clue

Offset weaves- there's 3 definitions, all of which accomplish roughly the same thing.. but describe different aspects as being critical.. search.. there's a recent thread by spiralx on it which clearly discusses all the views..

Flowers- doing parallel lockoutsin 90 degree intervals(for the basic 4 petal version).. thus making a bubbly flower pattern going forward, and a nice daisy petal like pattern when antipsun

Posted:box is seperated atomic weaves, and other 90degree plane effects that produce boxes out of circles.

i think someone put an essay on PiP about it...

carries are debatable, some would say its just a plane change, and a double carry traverses two planes in 1 beat. i wouldent call it a carry unless it crossed at least two planes, but hey.

I too have no-idea about in-betweens

matrix generally refers to a horisontal move where you bend backwards as far as you can, ala mr reaves in the film dodging bullets. poi matrix is a bit like a corkscrew waistwrap (front ww) and staff matrix is an incredibly hard round the shoulder contact move.

I wouldent get too hung up on terminology, last year we didnt have enough and it was hard to convey moves, now we have a terminology so defined that it has problems encompasing hybrid definitions.

watch the poi, not the finger, innit.

and the only meaning i've ever seen for "carry" is:

when one or both poi spins only half a beat (180 degrees) before changing to the other side of the body (eg left-right in wheel plane, front-back in wall plane).

which is nice and simple unless you start talking about buzzsaw planes etc...

isolating carries is fun smile

(offtopic: i first learnt carries from a girl called carrie)

notColeman5?

part of the inverted weave family.

a bitch to explain in words.

look up a post by arashi on 'inversions' smile

or find bluecats thread that has a bunch of fun ideas in it for a beat-by-beat explanation of that particular move (sorry can't remember what that one was titled).
