This is really just to guage a reaction.

We (the Falmouth Fire Fellowship wink) were talking the other day about having a big fire party a couple of weeks before Christmas. Brad has an excess of wood in his shop that needs burning, and that's an excuse to have a party. smile

We're thinking probably the weekend of Friday 9th Dec - Sunday 11th Dec. What do people think? Anyone fancy a trek to Cornwall to spin in the cold? We can guarantee lots of paraffin, lots of fresh herbs, and lots of tasty ale. biggrin

Right. Church all looks like it's not an option, as wierdly, they use it on a sunday, so us being there on the saturday night wouldn't really work. We may be able to use it during the days, but it doesn't sort out the accomodation thing.

Personally, i reckon the best bet is if you all go here>>

Falmouth Lodge Backpackers, Youth Hostel, Falmouth - Beds From £14

But it doesn't solve the need for an indoor spinning area. Maybe the church would let us go there during the day. Certainly, as Non has pointed out, there are several places we could go at night, and there are parks we could go to during the day (providing the weather's ok).

Whatcha thinkin?

Ok here is an idea which might be really stupid but it may work...... go with me on this one as I think out loud in text.

I know all the caravan sites are closed for the winter but, if there were enough of us to go to one site and ask them if we could take over lots of caravans for the one weekend might they give in and let us. People like Group bookings because its easier for them than doing all the individual paper work for each van........... maybe......... maybe not....... just an idea...... they might even have a barn out out building we could use if its raining to spin in...... maybe......?

Oh and Bristol poi a lift would be great. I was quoted £74 for a train ticket today..... that was a saver one too...... I gulped so loudly the man on the other end asked me if I was ok!

vanize, How hard would it be to get a flight to Exeter airport? Not sure if they do flights there but if they did i could give you a lift from there?

Just a thought wink

Erm, Vanz, why dont you fly to newquay airport from standsted? It costs about £25 all together and newquay is a lot closer to falmouth, i could swing by on my way down and give you a lift.

holy shite. skully>> it should not be that much, they are lying to you, and i know for i have had to buy such a ticket loads of times.... If you travel with First Great Western all the way, which you most certainly can, it'll probably be about half that.... Either that or.......... we swim!! 'tis just o'er water after all..... biggrin biggrin

and cor crikey, how did i never know there was a youth hostel in falmouth?? well i think i knew there was... i was just led to believe that it wasn't anymore.... sounds better than B&Bs. And why do they need the church hall on a sunday, surely the church bit is the bit they need?? that's silly....

well, that would only triple the price of the airline ticket, so I think I'll find another solution - thanks anyway.

now that sounds like a workable plan - and not that much more expensive than getting to london from stansted!

NoN>> The church hall is used for the sunday school, amongst other things.

The thing about campsites is they're are all out of town. This time I think it's better if we're all in town, as then there's more to do than just huddle on a beach if its cold/raining. Not that i think it will. although it is raining right this second. But it probably won't be in December. wink

I reckon hostels are the way forward. The one on Gylly terrace is like 5 minutes from mine as well.
