It's not possible do anything with it other than butterfly, and it really just gives the impression of an upturned turtle wiggling its arms and legs about.

But... whatever floats your boat. shrug
(and this is just my opinion).

to express your opinion i'm sure you could have done it in a
slightly less negative way.

have you actually seen the trick he's describing? first of all it
sounds to me like he's standing up so i'm not sure how
"upturned turtle" applies (although it might be a good description
of one of my tricks smile). for future reference i'd use "turtle standing
on one leg spinning lots of poi".

and why attempt to criticise the trick by saying there's nothing
you can do with it? just because your imagination is limited
doesn't mean his necessarily is. and why do you need to do
anything with it? it sounds like a damn impressive trick by itself
to me.

congrats miller, the trick sounds awesome. but as i said before
i still won't believe you until i see a nice long clip of it on video smile.

To be honest, being able to do tricks and transitions from one thing to another, and move seems far more important to me than maxing out the number of poi one can spin, but that's just me. My style is more dance and transition oriented, than trick oriented, and Mand's quite similar. Do we lack imagination? Far from it, our imagination takes us in different directions from you and pupil, 2bags.

Posted:spitfire: i agree with you to an extent. i've made a few posts
before about how i think spinning lots of poi isn't a routine
in itself, but make's a pretty finale. i was annoyed with mand
because her post wasn't done in the same way yours was.

the gist of mand's post is: what's the point, you can't do
anything with it, it just looks silly. even if she'd said
"that's not my style, i prefer dance moves with two poi" it's
not really relevant to the thread. it would be like posting
"that's dumb, i prefer under the leg tricks" in a thread on
hyperloops.

now since your post sounds far friendly i suspect you know
what i'm talking about with mand's post.

however, i've reread my post and it was a bit aggressive. so
how about we all just agree to disagree and have a group hug
grouphug?

You and pupil have different styles from Mand and I. That's ok...in fact it's great because diversity is the spice of life.

Nice one; if only everyone thought that way smile

(not referring to HOP-ers, its just that recently another once-very-positive/supportive skills forum I post on has recently started sliding downhill due to people needlessly (and probably unintentionaly) kicking off with each other, fueled by a few aggressive replies to imagined slights.

wow mand, what a needlessly critical post.

Well not really.
Why did Po2B put the post up in the first place? Just to try and show off, or to find out people's thoughts on his new trick?
All I was giving was my honest opinion on it.

I'm sorry if you don't like the reply, but my opinion... no, actually, I don't dare voice anything more about my opinion now frown

Ok, so enlighten me. What can you do with it.
I'm sorry about my lack of imagination... but all I do (jointly with Spitfire) is design and put together shows, including routines, costumes, music, make up, and set. wink

So my posts aren't quite as articulate as Spitfire's. Do you have a problem with that?
And also, why is all this anger coming from you?
My post didn't have anything to do with you. You weren't linked to it in the slightest. Yet you're the only person that's come up here and thrown a load of abuse my way. Can't Po2B voice his own opinions on matters if he finds them offensive?

Personally I'd like to let it lie.

But I woke up this morning, to find that 2bags had come on a thread where I'd said nothing about him, and just given me a censored load of abuse.
He seemed to have enough to say about me. I wanted a chance to reply.

That was my whole point.

Moves are posted on here so that people can talk about them... maybe even going into the realms of expressing their opinion a bit. wink

If Po2bags didn't want people talking about the move he posted, other than saying "oooh, wow, that's impressive", then why did he post it in the first place?

You say that you wanted people's reactions to it, and that was mine.
I'm sorry if I insulted you. I didn't mean to.

But, on the other hand...
it would've been nice if you could've come on here and said that in the first place.
I really didn't appreciate waking up this morning and being flung a tonne of abuse from someone who had nothing to do with my post (2bags).
