A&P, seriously old school. I thought they were only in New York & Jersey now.

ImmortalAngel, do you spin much in Toronto? It looks like a few people meet up in Christie Pits Park or Trinity Bellwoods Park. I was wondering how the cops are about fire spinning near downtown. A few of us will be up there in late June and the last thing I want is to have my fire gear confiscated. smile

mtbeer, I have not yet had a chance to spin in Toronto, but I am looking to get up there now and then once I can get my full G2 license (means mom and dad don't have to shuttle me here and there).
From what I hear they are pretty well tolerated though.
If you want you could bunk at my place for a while when you're up here, if you don't have arrangements already that is :P

and A&P is so not old school, infact, my girlfriend just got a job at one lol, but I agree, it beats out costco anyday!

Good to see a Canadian thread...

Lots happenning on the west coast! nick runs a poi spinning studio( PlayPoi ) in Vancouver, great for the rainy days, lots of cool toys, mirrors, video... and of course Nick teaching! he is amazing. Workshops onging all the time, 'cept when we will be at Uberpoi!

( Yay!) Spinners from all over come for the workshops, so it has a fun mix going on.

Lots of spinning on Vancouver Island too, and here on Salt Spring..

Festival season begins, wicked opportunities for performing and enjoying fire! ( InVision, Shamabala, just to name a few)

.

Be in touch if any of you get out this way!

Trout Lake Park, in East Vancouver ( near 14th and Commercial Drive. ) has a fire spin night each week... I am not sure which day right now though... Sorry!

Maybe email Nick at Nick@thevenue.org, or through www. playpoi.com and he can let you know! Usually people on the beaches too, when the weather is good, but that is a little more random...

Get a hold of Nick, he can introduce you to the Van fire scene !
Have fun,

Hey in Edmonton!

Jeditait: That group of spinners at Frequency was me and my friends. Frequency was me and my wife's (who also spins poi) bachelor-bachelorette party, we got married one week later smile
George Acosta has been my favorite DJ since I first heard of trance. It was awesome to get to see him live.

Now, who are you other Edmonton spinners?
Weather permitting we will all be hanging out at the legislature grounds all Canada day to celebrate my friend Angel's birthday and to watch the fireworks and spin poi. There were a lot of spinners there last year and we hope there will be a good turnout again this year. You all should come by and say hi. Being a group of spinners we shouldn't be hard to find wink

Looking forward to Motion Notion too smile As for spinning fire there, there is a Calgary based performance group, Rise Sun City, that do all the fire there. I don't think they like other people spinning fire, possibly a safety concern. Hope to see you there!

Hi guys...

Just wanted to let you know Nick Woolsey is doing a cross Canada tour this summer, teaching workshops and what not...He is an amazing instructor, so get in touch with him if you want to set something up in your town( s) ! He is open to stopping pretty much anywhere that has a little group interested in taking classes, and a couch to sleep on. He posted a thread under events I think, or contact him thru his site www.playpoi.com

He was just here on Salt Spring performing and teaching, what fun! I think I need a few weeks to recover before heading to Uberpoi!

Spitfire (my partner) will be doing geology/ oil and gas company stuff up there.
I'll be looking for outdoor activity work- mainly river guiding (canoe and kayaks).

I'd love to meet Nick whilst we're in Canada. I've seen his videos, and love his style of spinning. He's one of my favourite spinners.
Are you both going to be at Uberpoi?
I have to go back the Uk in a couple of weeks, and will be at uberpoi. Looking forward to meeting you there. biggrin

I, for the first time in my life, have just met another spinner, who not only had his own spinning equipment, but also had bought it from Home of Poi :O I am sooooo upset I just broke my collar bone :'( I sooo wanted to teach him some of the stuff he asked about, but I can't even move that arm behind my back to do behind the back stuff....

On the plus side, we're gonna be doing some workshops in Guelph. Spinning and Drum Circles biggrin

Hey, I'm from Calgary....
and seriously, the driving is BAD! Especially downtown!
I'm looking for people to practice with here......
A couple years ago there was a group that met every Thursday night, but I'm not sure if there's anything like that going on right now....

I smile because I have no idea what is going on...

Well, we wont have a car, as Spitfire's selling hers before we leave, so we won't have to face crazy drivers anymore. smile

We're definitely gonna be looking for people to practice with when we get there.
Are there many places to spin fire around Calgary? What are the laws about fire spinning up there?
Blayze- welcome to HoP. I'll send you a pm, and see about meeting up when we find somewhere to live and get a bit settled?

4 days!!!

Laws in Canada are very relaxed in general, for just about everything, it's what makes us the mafia's new home of choice for operation, they literally CAN get away with murder here :P and then pampered for a few years after.

Oh man...nearly all packed.

We still have a ton to do before we get on the plane on Thursday....then once we're there...we've got to find a place to live.

We've got crash space for a while, but I want to find a place before the movers arive with our stuff....someplace not too far from downtown, or in easy reach of transportation.

Oh, and for the record...I *hate* packing.
