So, in one of the craziest 'impulse purchases' I have ever done...I got a puppy yesterday....!

A friend of a friend had to get rid of them, or put them down by the end of this week... So I went to visit them and fell head over heels for one little guy in particular... ubblove

He's a Staffie/Bull mastiff, but I think the mum has a little dingo in her as well....

He's five weeks old today - he is black all over except for white tips on his toes and tail, a little white bib and a crazy white mohawk streak over his head...very trendy..!

So....I need a name for the little bugger...He's the cutest little thing... ubbrollsmile

I'm keen to call him something a little unique... and a name that has a meaning....if that makes sense!

Throw your ideas my way!

I was told by a dog trainer that it is best to name your dog something that is short and commanding if your going to be training them. It has worked for my father his dog's name is Dacks (short for Adirondacks, a mountain range in New York). This way if you call the dog it's easier for them to hear the command or something. She's a beautiful doberman and is sooo friendly it shocks people 'cause of the bad stereotype surrounding that breed. I like the name Ursa, Urse for short.

When we had our old dog, Barton James, we used to always say that Thaddeus (shortened to Tad) was a great name for a dog. But our new dog is female and her name is Mia Kaatje.

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Rougie: but that's what I'm doing here
Arnwyn: what letting me adjust myself in your room?..don't you dare quote that on HoP...

ubblol ubblolsomething with "i" makes the highest sound, dog listen better to higher sond, in addition short would be good but if you choose a long name you will make it short later wink

I agree with the short and commanding type name, but ive found that a two sylable name works best. when i trained my dogs Murphy and Pepper the two distinced sounds made it very easy for them to catch on that it was their name.

The way it is for me is totaly based off of the dogs personality. It took us 2 weeks to name Pepper and a week and a half for Murphy. Pepper was named after Dr. Pepper and Murphy after the beer...yea my family is weird.

though i do really like the sound of a punk name for the moe hawk...

i dont know...

Call it 'Savage'

Think of the hours of endless fun when you let him loose in the park. As he gets close to some annoying youth call him back with a loud cry of "Savage!!"

smile I am totally 100% sure that I know what I'm doing.... I've had dogs all my life and have been waiting to get one since I moved up here for Uni....Now just seemed convenient since they were being given away and they were so damn cute! I'd never abandon a puppy just because I made a rash decision.... I dont know how anyone could really frown

I know it's way cute but don't call your dog 'dog', because if you do then any one will be able to call & command him by his name.
How often have you seen a dog hanging about and called it, saying 'come here, dog.'
I would just make it very easy for someone to steal, or for someone to assume it is a stray because it comes to them so easily.

You could name him after a poi move.
Buzzsaw would be cute.
