Election day in the US.

7 days.

Like it or not.

Storm's a comin'. Get ready for a lawsuit filled election won by Mr. Bush. Hey, don't blame me, most of you all aren't voting against him.

That's my prediction, you heard it here first.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

So are you all reckoning there is avery strong chance of a recount if Kerry wins first time then?

The news hasn't been speculating about that here at all. I'm guessing if he wins by a landslide, then it won't be a problem. There have been numerous broadcasts about court trials though, so that may play a factor instead.

On the plus side, I did see many first time voters at my polling location this morning. I know they were first timers because the volunteers had to ask that question of everyone before giving them a ballot for some reason. I was very impressed because the ones I saw were not exactly young. Hopefully the voter turnout will be impressive in all age ranges today.

Oh, for those of you not in the know, the results will probably not be known for at least a day. So don't bother staying up tonight. I mean it's fun to watch and all... but things could change after midnight EST still.

Good luck all.

Well, shall we go?

NYC....like last time? wink

No one asked if I was a first time voter, but they did ask for an ID even though I showed them the voter registration card....I heard on NPR just after I voted, that they aren't supposed to ask for secondary ID if you have the voter registration card.

Mind you, I think a picture ID to go with the card isn't a bad idea. In fact, I wonder why they don't make the voter registration cards picture ID's...it would cut down on voter fraud.....hmmm I may have just answered my own question. LOL (Though I'm sure it's to save money.)

My polling station didn't ask for any ID at all, although I had my card with me, just in case someone tried to disenfranchise me.

Well...I thought about voting today. I really did. Then I sat down and truly pondered who to cast my vote for. You see, I constantly hear people who say that if you don't vote you don't have a right to complain. A point which I can somewhat understand, but you see I have a problem. Bush seems to have done a stellar job of fudging up the presidency. If anyone could tank a country with style Dubya did it. But then I look at Kerry, forgive me but the man is a dink. I wouldn't want him in the White House anymore than I want Bush. As far as Nader goes I believe he's the Ross Perot of this decade. So I decided not to vote. Not because I don't care, not because I want to neglect my civil duty, but because I feel there is no option I could in good concience cast my lot with. I'm not going to vote just for the sake of voting. I feel that is just as much and abuse of civil liberty as not voting is. I can't honestly say how I'm going to feel regardless of who gets elected. On one hand GWB lost 380 TONS of explosives, on the other Bin Laden likes Kerry. Either way it goes this country is going directly to hell. If it weren't for the fact my husband is a soldier I would be on the first plane somewhere else. I don't want to be here when we start World War III.

There are other things to vote for besides the presidency.

I might have thought this through before today also. But that's just me.

Sorry, but you've completely fallen for Republican propoganda. Osama might as well have been wearing a Bush Cheney badge in that video. Bush and Bin Laden need each other to maintain thier power.

Ohio is likely going to bush.

observation from outside..:

a discussion on BBC radio 4, with two phone-in callers on air;

caller number 1: ......and as we all know this election is for the leader of the free world.....
caller numer two jumps in: if it was, the free world would be allowed to vote and there would be no contest between bush and kerry.

so true...

and herre's a quote from a visitor to the bbc website:

'It's unfortunate that a country with so much talent and ability cannot offer its electorate a better choice than Bush or Kerry'

(bring back al gore);)

the media here appears to be apologising to the british public for allowing bush to be winning, and saying that at least this means in four years we(you) are pretty much certainly going to vote democrat...

Apparently the global online tally came to 77% Kerry. But in the US, Bush wins barely. We have to wait 11 days for absentee ballots to be counted in Ohio.

I am beyond disbelief at the stupidity of my fellow Americans.

BRING BACK McCAIN! There's a republican I'd vote for!

And on a totally unrelated note, my life blows.

I'll look into getting myself deported, rest of you have fun.

If New Mexico is going to go Rep.
Iowa is going Dem.
Which puts them exactly level at 259 each...

Ohio will be the decider

Actually (after looking more closely) it doesn't matter who gets New Mexico or Iowa.... they only total up to 12 votes, Ohio carries 20, which would take either candidate into the lead and above the required 270...
Currently it's GWB 51.1% JK 48.4% but there are lots of issues apparently...

yeah, looks like it is looking increasingly like a Bush victory. Republicans will keep control of the senate and take control of the house too. In addition, 3 supreme court justices will likely be appointed in the next 4 years, which means the supremem court will be republican controled for the next couple decades.

America had its chance and blew it - big time. There is some very small hope the final count will take the win away from bush, but I personally am beyond much hope now.
