Posted:You know that whole "Rubbing the tummy while patting the head" thing? That most people have trouble with but some folks can do. Well my class showed me another one and I instantly got it, thanks to poi.

Move your right arm as if you're spinning your right poi forward. Move your left arm as if you're spinning a poi backwards.

That's it.

Most of my class couldn't do it.

And you all can.

Ask a nonspinner and they'll probably find it hard. biggrin

Also doing the whole making a circle forward with one hand while backwards with other. So you're doing isolated buzzsaw butterflies without the poi. Most people can't do that for crap.

And you can. biggrin

Tis possible with concentration, but not easy.

And Mol, I did to it while turning. Basic of basic club spinning moves. My class was dumbfounded. Then again, my class is dumb reguardless of their foundedness.

Then I challenged my non poi bloke to do it.
He did it straight away.
I was so dissapointed.

The foot one.

A bit OT, but very random that someone else tried to get me to do this the day you posted it.. a non-spinner..

It's a conspiracy I tell you!

I'll be able to do this one when I do some more foot-poi. I reckon that if I can do a foot butterfly whilst doing a weave with my arms I'll be able to do this! (falls over)

I'm pretty sure that that's how Leo Di Vinci kept all of his notes. By writing left handed backwards. So nobody could easily read them over his shoulder.

That's what he told me anyway.

But it wouldn't if your left hand was as practised at intricate stuff like writing as your right

I think he wrote with his feet as well. Four things on the go at once sort of thing.

(I can also rite left upside down right side right way up at the same time) I learned these tricks at about age 8 and I still need to practice but it means when it comes to ambidexterous twilling its a doddle (practice your twirling will open right up what was imposiable becomes mearly hard

Repeat this as often as poissible, so you are comfortable with stopping and changing directions at both sides...

Sounds simpler than it actually is...

Posted:I can do the hands and feet things due to drumming I think. It helps with that whole 4 way independence thing, doing different things with all your hands and feet. For the crazy both-hands-writing types, try drawing a circle with one hand and a square with the other. Properly mind you, no curvy squares or flat-sided circles! I saw a guy doing it on TV a while ago. He had a 'split brain', so one side of the body can act completely independently of the other. It must be crazy. As spinners we just get used to the feeling of doing different things until it doesn't feel weird anymore, but this split brain business is on a whole different level. FireTom's drill is really good. I like trying to isolate it in buzzsaw, and keep the centre of rotation in exactly the same place throughout the stall and change of direction. I can't do it, but it's nice to play with smile
