Nice one on the new thread Cass

Off the top of my head list so that people don't have to stir those long unused brain cells:

Trying to keep them as old as I can remember which is why I haven't included X-Men etc.

Transformers
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Ulysess 31
Visionaries
Mask
Dino Riders
Aeon Flux
Gobots
Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors
Jem (imho) still watched it though
Captain N and the ?????????????? nintendo thing
Captain Planet (very bad, imho)
Battle of the Planets
Spiderman and His Amazing Friends

that'll do for now

*Oh, just for a minute,* my bed said.
"Don't lie to me," I grumbled.

Posted:ooh, ooh just remembered a film called 'The Flight of Dragons'. Anyone else.

Very very good, young nerd as main character, eventually beats the evil red wizard but spouting loads of scientific formulas and laws at him.

Some really nasty bits, and the prettiest dragons I've yet seen, very varied, western, chinese, random other cultural dragon variations.

Also had the best explanation of dragon flight and fire ever.

Posted:I don't remember Albatron, Cobra or Candy but I'm proud of you Cassandra for your love of Ulysses, it was pretty dark as it goes, but I always was attuned to my dark side!

Let's not forget to add Thundercats, Bagpuss and Pigeon Street to this list of all time kiddie classics!

Posted:Cobra, you mean as in Space Adventure Cobra, his arm turns into a gun that shoots seeking bullets, a PsychoGun or someting, fights the golden see through baddy, all they women get killed?

I've got the Game for Sega Mega CD it's like a choose your own adventure thing, wicked.

If not, I sound like a damned fool, but no change there.

Thundercats, I don't believe I forgot that, and bagpuss, pigeon street, aah the memories.

Legend of the Auberfiend and Ninja Scroll are probably the best other kung fu Japanese animated cartoon films out there, hunt them down!

Posted:Ghost in the Shell and Akira I've seen (quite a few times), haven't heard of the other two. I guess they're good

Urotsukidoji is very very twisted, beautiful

I've always wanted to see Ninja Scrolls

other good manga,
Doomed Megalopolis
err,
Wicked City
Running Bean (I think that's what it's called)
Catgirl Nuku Nuku (very bizarre)
Dominion Tank Police!!!!!!!!

easiest way to find this stuff is to use amazon.?? and just grab the details, then buy it from an independant, damned multinationals, grr.

How about tri-gun. Quality wtf kind of Anime.
Has a very goofy side to it as well as that whole message thing. I just liked watching it for the purty pictures.

Anyone seen Record of the Lodos Wars? I've only seen a very little bit of it, but it was cool.
The Robotech stuff is all pretty cool.

Evangelion(sp?) was pretty cool as well.

Posted:Macross Plus is excellent. But my favorite part of the whole DVD is the anti-drug trailer where KISS is telling kids not to do drugs.

We were all on acid and watching this trailer and laughing our asses off.

Posted:I absolutely love anime, I don't really have that much in my collection though, I have other things that need to empty my bank account first and it's pretty expensive.
I grew up (assuming I've actually managed to grow up, something my sister doubts very much ) watching stuff like Transformers, The Mysterious Cities of Gold and Ulysess 31 on childrens TV. I was in heaven when the anime society started at Uni, even though I only managed to get to a couple of their screenings (what little money I had needed to be spent on bread and baked beans)
I'm still trying to find out the name of the steampunk type film I saw that had a flying city unfortunately, that's almost all I can remember except for scattered fragments (including a rail chase, zeppellins and lots of cannons)

In my very humble collection, I have Ghost In The Shell, the director's cut of Akira, Monster City and (my overall favourite anime film) Honneamise No Tsubasa.

I've also got a couple of the animated batman series videos, and I'm trying to find them on dvd, so I don't wear them out because of repeated watchings.

the green lady gave me nightmares argh!!

I wouldn't go that far, but it's certainly not the best anime I've seen, probably the easiest to get hold of though - it's the only one I've seen sold in Tescos

Posted:oh see other thread on ulysses and cities of gold...didnt notice this one.

I get these thru my brother since i dont have a tv/vcr...but they make me watch anime when i go there...
have seen some of lodos wars.
quite enjoyed uhm was it called "slayers" which is sort of an anime spoof on dungeons and dragone with this big busted wizard chick and her small breasted friend who is looking for the fountain which will, uhm, enlarge her? "Sea Cucumber Spin!" but, we were drunk at the time and we only watched the silly parts.

Yawara! Fashionable Judo Girl!

something with a girl who can read tarot cards and ends up on a weird land on the moon no one from earth can see.

and i have the soundtrack to princess mononoke but not the actual movie...

will probably be subjected to cowboy beebop and lain when i got to california to visit next month...

Pere (not an anime fan by far but will put up with it for a little while...)

It's only because the charactors didn't have that wicked anime hair.

My favorite anime of all time:
Battle Angel (based on the comic series'Gunnam' by Yukito Kishiro)

Have any of you watched Dragon 1/2? My friend made me watch a few episodes the other day and it was funny as hell. It's a kids show, but you really wouldn't know it from all the nudity and suggestive content.

Posted:Of the slightly more mainstream anime, my personal favorites are:
RANMA - incredibly funny boy vs girl dilemmas!
TENCHI - tons of innuendo to laugh at, as well as cute rabbit/spaceship things boucing around
ROBOTECH - the one that started it all for me

Any MACROSS 7 fans in the house? Best anime music ever I say.

What hits the fan is not evenly distributed.
