you can isolate just about anything actually... or at least throw islations into parts of whatever.

isolations in a weave a are much easier than isolations in a buzzsaw IMO. I like isolated TTN too. Then an isolated inverted weave can look totally far out.

then there are also leading isolations as well as following isolations (not sure of the proper terminology for this - what most people learn first is what I'm calling a following isolation in my terminology though)

don't know of any vids off-hand

oh heck - I know it's been explained before, and I'd be suprised if you didn't know what I was talking about - probably just using the wrong words for it, which is why I can't find it on a search...

uhm, I dunno. The only way I know how to get to them are from reverse moves - reverse buzzsaw, reverse weave - and they look like your hand is following the poi instead of leading it - if it is done really well (which I can't even come close to) it looks like you are sort of pushing the poi in front of your hand motion with a ridgid chain/sock, which is what I mean by leading - it looks like your poi is leading ahead of your hand's isolation movement instead of vice-versa as per normal. maybe they are reverse isolations? naw, nix that idea, because I think you can do 'em forwards too? which starts me wondering about turning with isolatios and permutations between forwards and backwards and leading and following and and and .... kaboom! my head explodes!

what a mess.

man - I'm not even that great at normal isolations if I don't have sock poi, and you are going to make me explain something I've seen a couple people do for a second or two and only tried half-heartedly a few times?!?!

I should'a kept my mouth shut before...

My definition of an isolation is:

When you spin poi normally, the centre of rotation is usually you wrists/ hands.

When you isolate, the centre of rotation is shifted to half way between you hands and the end of the poi.

When isolating a buzzsaw, the mid point of the chains should line up.

Imaging a snare drum on its side, with a sword through the middle horizontally.

Imagine the middle of your chains have also been squeuered by the sword but can still spin freely around the sword. In a vertical postiton.

Now imagine your hands, and the end of the poi are going round the rims of the drum. You left hand on the left rim and your right hand on the right rim.

Move you arms round the rims 180 degrees apart whilst tring to keep the squeuered chains on the sword.

umm

Make any sence?

can't do isolations at the moment but i'm hoping persistence will reap its reward-I'm starting to see some sort of vague isolation type stuff appear on my attempts but still a long way off. Anyway if you look at durbs' video called [Old link] at 1min 38secs there is a lurvely isolated buzzsaw leading and then following I think if I have this right

Now this is a half in the right topic, but I'm starting to get what I'd like to call "Hyperlations'". By getting a hyperloop on my LHS and bringing the loop to the center so I'm doing a hyperloop buzzsaw. Just when the left poi is almost equal to my left hand and my right poi is almost equal to my right hand, I begin an isolation. You can continue this link for as long as you see fit, as the chain stays at the same point. To get out I just slow down the isolation movements, speeding up the hyperloop and then bringing it out on my RHS... biggrin

I can't hear you... I have a banana in my ear.
