Anybody of the Devilstickers tried playing with small meteors instead of sticks, or does it exist already?
Think it could work quite well ... spirals, butterflies, etc...

???

umm..speaking from a non devil sticker's view, and not sure if im understanding you correctly....

but wouldnt the meteor simply wrap round the devil stick when you try to hit it?

thats why the sticks are in a state of being very much 'solid' surely?

Conversely, has anyone tried doing meteors with a giant devil stick; say, about 5 or 6 feet long?

The rigidity of such a stick would obviously give a different feel to flexible meteors, but could make some of the moves a bit easier.

And, I may be jumping a bit ahead of myself as this is pretty original stuff, but maybe kevlar wicking could be attached to each end to give a kind of 'fire stick'.

Anyone got ideas for a name for this new toy?

Recently I play a lot with meteors and playing only contact with my hands/wrists gave me the idea that DS players could do the same just smaller.
@UCOF: The basic move would be the propellor. A spiral would be more difficult, and direction changes require a special stall. Difficult to describe but meteor players should know what I mean.
@Onewheeldave: U tried it already ?? Sounds like smile

I gotcha now.

I thought you meant replacing the handsticks with meteor.

THen realised after your last post that you meant replacing the devil stick.

IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW!!!!!

Hmmm I've given OWDs idea a try, but I can't see it catching on. Butterflys are nigh on impossible for a start.

I'd call it a flame-pole. Or something.

yeah but metor that are short, your forgetting i work with bits of wood solid things with maybe chain not these flimsy creations that are widly unpredictable i mean socks honestly there all bendy and stuff. What i meant was how do you attach weights at either end so the stay and what would you use for the middlley bit all i can thingk of is somehoe sewing tennis balls to the ends of a stripy sock and stichinf one end up. Which would be crap, especially with my sewing

hmm.. it would be dangerously flaily and have serious pain potiential helicopter would look really cool because it wouldn't change direction and the flails could just extent outwards centeral peital force stylee. Still i wouldn't mind knowing how people make thier own metors...

i dont think it would work. i just got new fire devils last week and through my limited experience with a friends meteor i believe you wouldnt be able to manipulate it to swing in the right direction without it wraping around the stick, unless you just did constant wraps.

You wrap just the very end and swing it outwards then it flings back across to the other side i was doing it for ages last nite. Muchos bending over and picking up of metors though

thousands . . . the problem is to describe them! (Like always) And another one that I dont play devil stick - its only what I think COULD work ubbrollsmile
Propellors, Spirals, Stalling, Wraps, Butterflies (clamp the meteor between the ends of the sticks) . . . .

Its possible, I do it with my hands and a big meteor. Just a matter of practice . . . hard to describe. I think its easier with sock meteors and their higher air resistance . . .

Looking forward to see it live . . .
cheers

thats very encouraging Butterfly sounds a little improbable but worth a go. Propellor is possible but damn hard. Stalls and wraps are hard because it carries on moving and gets tangled but interesting none the less. I'm gonna go and look at a thread describing how to get .GIFs and images (thanks Ifrit) into posts so that should help with the explainin'. When using hand sticks sock metor are the only option as else string or chain twists together and causes a tangle (not a good poi one tho) .keep this thread going.

Just had a go - Butterfly works (with 2 pencils and chains . . . more renegade than mainstage at the moment wink) Its important to pinch it really at the ends, otherwise one ends up in a butterfly hand- ermmm stick-cuff. But that should be controllable too.

Stalls are possible from what I do with Meteors (1.80). It just seems to be much harder in small . . .
