Summer Location: Queen Victoria gardens.

The aim is not for a solely firetwirling night, but a night whereby firetwirlers, jugglers, contact jugglers, diabolo etc can meet. So feel free to bring friends who may be interested.

Night starts at 6pm for all those who are keen to learn. Fire starts after dark 7.00 - 8ish till late!

So.... the location is Queen Victoria Gardens

St. Kilda Road – opposite 'National Gallery of VIC' (Old Arts Gallery with spire)

The grassed area near the three raised palm trees. (Look out for the bronze statue hammer thrower)

With only a 5 minute walk over the princess bridge from Flinders Street station.

Here's the map

https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...360&ie=UTF8

*WINTER LOCATION*

Under the Princess bridge (Southbank side). Where the Southbank Sundey market happens.

frown I wish I was able to stay the whole night, but getting a bit of sleep probably did me some good.

There's a scouting event coming up mid-year called a Cuboree, which is like a Jamboree for 8-11yos. In other words, it's a massive camp held in Victoria (this time) with activities and performances and so on. I've been asked to round up some twirlers/jugglers for a 20-30 minute performance, and I now actually have concrete details. Anyone interested?

DATES (that apply to you)-
Sunday 30th March - All performers required at Gilwell for a rehearsal and 'true time' tech run (in the dark)
Thursday 3rd April - Carnivale Night Performances

REQUIREMENTS of you
We require performers to do some group and individual stuff. Twirling, juggling, poi etc (Any carnivale type performers that are of reasonable talent!)

"PAYMENT"
We are unable to pay performers but will reimburse performers the cost of petrol and also provide dinner and supper if requested.

Performers will perform on and around the Campfire Circle Stage at Gilwell. The audience will number 4000+ screaming 8-10year olds so it is awesome fun!

Those are the details as I know them. Gilwell is a Scout Park out past Lilydale - in Gembrook from memory. Basically it'll be a glow event, as I doubt they'd let us do fire and it'll be at night. It'll go for about 20-30 minutes, and we can have whatever lighting/sound etc. we want.

hey jarle,
please make a separate scouting event thread for that glow event - it's great that you're giving exposure to this event that sounds like great fun, however it's not fair on our interstate and international friends who want to find out about the sunday meet and can't find details buried underneath separate events.

Those of us who are posting regularly on this thread have no problems finding where the sunday meets are and what the latest updates are, however we must be fair to other friends who are considering visiting only to find mentions of other events like rainbow serpent. Poor Gnor couln't find the reposts of the the map etc.

There's alot of history on this thread like when brendan started the meet in O'donnel gardens or when Tyr emailed a newsletter for it and hundreds turned up.. however the value of this thread is diminished when people just can't find updates about it easily.

The socialising goin on in this thread is a good reflection of the tone that this meet can create, however if we can post events that are clearly not about sunday in their separate thread, then that would be great!

This thread is an important link - basically, a little vigilance on our behalf will really help our friends who aren't as familiar with this meet.

Which shouldn't need to be constantly reposted and should be in the very first post.

Even without people talking about other events, this thread will gain pages with "i won't be here this week because I'm at rainbow serpent" or "i'm visiting this week, who will be there?".
Are we not to talk about that either?

lol cheer up charlie. it's clear that you're often deliberately looking for an online argument on this thread - hows about we start talkin in real life instead hey? you seem very hostile to me. Is it something that i have perhaps done to you in the past? if so prolly private message me instead, yeah? hug

those examples you suggest are about sunday attendance, and matter to anyone curious about what's happenin' on sunday. You are quite right in that such input is useful! smile
