Yup, I got admitted last night. I got an infection in a blister on my foot and was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon for overnight administration of high-dose IV antibiotics.

I'm mostly better now (the wound has to heal and I have to be on antibiotics for another week), but I'm fine.

However, it was interesting being on the other side of the stethoscope. Even if at one point the resident (who was on his third day working in the ER) said "I need to find an 18-gauge needle" and I replied "Uh-huh! Yellow suture cart, second drawer, middle." He laughed and said, "Thanks! You're the best patient EVER!"

That was how the night went. A surreal parody of me being at work.

That's gotta suck! So, you've had how many needles in the last few days? You must be fairly ill to be in hospital for an infection. *hugs*

I wasn't ill at all...it was just that kind of infection. Actually, I have no problem with needles at all. I had an IV in all night. I got a needle at admission, one to start the IV, and a bajillion in the foot while they drained the abscess.

And that's it.

But like I say, needles don't bug me.

How did you get the blister in the first place?

needles.... ewww. I hate needles... my worst experience was when they had to do the allergy testing for me they put 45 needles into each arm, like barely beneath the skin so they can see your allergic reaction to whatever's in the needle. The horror of 90 needles stacked up in front of you... then they tease you by pinching the nerves of the skin but going no deeper. THE HORROR!

Then of course i ended up being allergic to 1/3 of the stuff they tested me for so i had to administer a shot to myself every other day for allergy

Clean for 6 months and counting... ah yeah, that's nice.

Lightning! shame on you! you should know how to take care of a blister on your foot better than that, you're our mad doctor in training. We have you and noone else, we can't afford for you to start spending time in the hospital when you're not getting paid for it ;]

Well, today's my first day back at work. Foot's feeling and looking much better. Not all the way back to normal (after such intense inflammation, I'm expecting it won't look 100% normal for as long as a year, but it will be 95% back to normal by early next week).

Thanks for all your support, guys. I wubbs you all! hug2 ubblove kiss

Sorry for your foot dude but i had to laugh when you said about the resident.... ubblol ubbloco ubbrollsmile ubbloco ubblol

There may be one for everyone but what if there is two for three would that mean none for someone or did they start off without one....
