I've seen people use flag poi and although it looks really nice et al I can't help but think they look like Morris Dancing. That fills me with dread - the only thing in life that scares me is Morris Dancers. Does anyone else share this fear or know of a way that I can safely watch and enjoy flag poi without wanting to run away with a pseado smell of rough cider in my nostrils?

Morris Dancers

(for those of you know dont know what morris dancers are)

I think Morris dancers look nothing like Flag spinners.

I love flags and found that, contrary to popular belief, flags DO Hyperloop and you can do 5 beats with them. smile

Flags rock. Knackering on the arms though.

Jon, I want proof of your loopiness with flags. 5 beat, yes, loops, hmmmmm.

In Falmouth there is a team of Morris Dancers that go round the pubs performing. Heh. Then we come along with fire and they are instantly forgotten by the general public. biggrin

Gelfling have you ever seen the witchmen morris dancers? Here about half way down the page on the left you can find a picture of them. They dress in all black and yellow and their dancing is rougher and ruder than any morris dancers I have ever seen. I have camped next to them at a festival once. The don't take their black boot polish off their faces even when they sleep. And they can drink anyone you care to mention under the table! Now they are men you could really have nightmares about!

Jon, by "flags" do you mean swivel flags? My flags won't even 3 beat. They twist if you do.

I am the evil spawn of a morris dancer!!!! mwahahahaha devil

but i can assure you that they are pretty docile, all you need to do to ward any off is to point them in the direction of a good cask of real ale....

and rest assured there's no WAY you can do a three beat weave with morris hankies, particularly after the fifth stop on a pub tour....! beerchug

one of these men, is my dad. I'm not telling you which though biggrin

ubbloveAhh, i love my flags, but you have to unwind or they do start to twist, but i like them better w/o swivels, you get a better "feel" for them IMHO. Plus mine are totally UV reactive and "pop" intensely under black light, almost come alive! Bought them off of FreeForm Flags on the net. Was in a UV room at Burning Flipside and they were incredible!!! Everyone wanted to play with them, it was awesome!!

Skul, yep I heard of the witchmen morris dancers - apparently the guy who started them is a gun collector and uncle of a guy I used to play ultimate frisbee with. They are truely freaky.

NOn - its the guy facing the camera - the bearded one with the sunnies who looks like he's on a special K come down?

incorrect I'm afraid, but good guess.... he's not actually in that first pic, but is in the ones on other pages.... you have to explore - although i know that involves delving deeper into the scary world of morris for you.... sorry, but it may help you overcome your fear of morris and hence flags....!?

There’s only a little hope bell jangling hop from scary Morris dancers o the Extra scary ....
