Well, seeing as we are starting to take over the

"Offical HOP "I just learnt a new move" thread", I thought we should contain this bit just to jugglerisng and the throwing and dropping of balls, clubs, rings and other miscellaneous juggling props.

Today I mothered learning 441.

I had a few throws of 531 but only 1 catch. I think my 5 is too high.

Note for the mods: I DEMAND on behalf of the jugglers on this site, as has been done with the aforementioned "Poi moves thread", that this one is made a sticky thread.

Otherwise its just favouritism really....

Rob i'l try that 555573 (6x,4) (4,6x) etc sounds really nice

Will try sometime wink

Sounds much nicer than the ones i know -

55555666 (6x4...

or High lo (stacked) triplex (one ball high, two low) and then straight in.

Got 14 catches of 97531 and can run in for ten catches starting with left side, now have to learn 10 catches starting with the right.

blah blah blah...

you can't use the average to decide if a ss is valid or not cat - it doesn't work.
if you don't believe me try and juggle 351 and see where you end up...

but i guessed at what you might be doing and got it wrong too so i thought i'd wait until i had time to work it out properly.

i suggested (71)777120(71) cos the rhythm and height is closer to the shower but i didn't check it properly - i knew you could use (71)27272(71) to change shower direction so i just guessed you needed 7's in there rather than 5's...

the reason our numbers don't work is because 71 and 5551 (and 777120) are different states i.e. you can't go from one to the other without a transition.
71 is excited state and 5551 is ground state.

easy way of thinking about states: "where are the balls and where are they going to?"

in a shower all the balls go round in a nice circle.
for a 4b shower they go up for 7 beats from one hand (the right hand say), land in the left and are fed to the right 1 beat later.
with this pattern of balls in the air, you can't throw 5551 because to do that, you need 4 balls landing four beats in a row left-right-left-right and in a shower they only do that if you keep throwing 1's from the left hand or use a throw other than a 7 from the right (like a 2 for example).

even if you hold a ball in your right hand and then start the 5551 with the left hand (which would be (71)25551...) it still won't work as you don't have a ball in your right hand to do the 1 at the end - that ball is in your left hand.

possible transitions between 71 and 5551 can be found by using this thing.

tape yourself if you can cos i'd like to know what you're doing here!

(and just to be tidy, i also found a page describing sync<->async ss transition throws here - i know no-one will read it except me but i put it here anyway so there's a handy link to it now from hop which means i can't lose it again tongue).

Nice one Tom smile how are the slapbacks going? my best is about 5. frown

Rob, the hi-lo triplex into (6x4) is catch on triplex side, 4 on other side, catch again and another four, THEN triplex (8x64) with one four on other side, then straight into (6x4).

Hope this makes sense, it looks quite nice when it works. wink

Well not posted in ages, just thought i'd tell you guys bout my new 3 ball trick:

From mills, throw the U ball as a reverse back cross and catch behind the head with same hand, as you do this you collect the 1 and 2 balls. You then you go back into the other half of mills by throwing the two in your hand one after the other in the same direction as the behind the head catch, and finally the ball that was caught behind the head gets thrown under arm as the U ball again. Then you just repeat the sequence on the other side.

It feels like a nice trick but the jury is out on that one, hope my explanation is ok, if not those that know me its probably just easier to show you.
